Visiting the Tower of London
The Tower of London is one of the great icons of London and Britain. The castle was originally built by William the Conqueror in 1078 as a statement of his power and success. It has been a notorious prison, a palace, an armoury, menagerie and the fortress for the British Crown Jewels. It is guarded by the famous 'Beefeaters' and has many stories of lost tunnels, treasure, torture, murder, sabotage and war. It is said to be one of Britain’s most haunted buildings and is the UK’s second most visited tourist attraction.
