Sustrans

Sustrans-LogoSustrans is a leading UK charity enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day.

We work with families, communities, policy-makers and partner organisations so that people are able to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys, with better places and spaces to move through and live in.

Sustrans-family-bikerideOur flagship project, the National Cycle Network, is 14,000 miles of walking and cycling routes spanning the length and breadth of the UK and it now carries over one million journeys every day. The Network is great for every day commuting and getting from A to B, but it’s also amazing for leisure trips of any length, whether it be a day’s ride or a whole week’s holiday.

We’re delighted to be supporting the Club’s 'Perks' campaign, as the National Cycle Network is easy to access from so many of its Club and Camping in the Forest Sites. Over half of sites are within one mile of the network, with most of the rest being within five miles.

As over one third of the Network is completely free from traffic, it provides an unparalleled opportunity to roam the beautiful British countryside away from the hustle and bustle of busy roads.

Many of our routes are holiday destinations themselves – did you know that you can cycle across the north of England from one coast to the other on the iconic Sea to Sea route? Over 15,000 people do just this every year!

Sustrans-biker-countrysideWalking and cycling are both great forms of exercise, so you can keep fit whilst discovering the local area. Regular exercise keeps your body fit and healthy, and it’s also been proven to be good for your mind, so you’ll be happier too!

They are also great for bringing families and friends together – a good walk or cycle ride can create lasting memories.

These are just a few of the perks Sustrans can offer when visiting Club sites. To find out more, and to find out where to walk and cycle, visit our website.
