How to get to Twycross Zoo by car?

To get to Twycross Zoo by car, use the postcode CV9 3PX. The zoo is located on the A444, which can be accessed via the A5 and the M42 junction 11. As you get closer to the zoo, there are plenty of brown tourist attraction signs which you can follow.

How to get to Twycross Zoo by public transport?

It’s super easy to get to Twycross Zoo using public transport. The two closest train stations to the zoo are Atherstone Station and Nuneaton Station. Using Atherstone Station, you can get the number 7 bus, which takes you directly to the zoo. This bus has one direct service daily that departs just after 10 am. You can also catch a taxi from the train station to the zoo, which will take roughly 10 minutes.

Alternatively, Nuneaton Station has a taxi rank which takes you directly to Twycross Zoo in less than 15 minutes. You can also catch the bus, adding 30 minutes to your train journey.

Conkers Club Site is a quiet campsite nestled in the National Forest. It borders Staffordshire, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire, so you’ll be surrounded by the breathtaking British countryside, where you can enjoy relaxing walks, fishing, wildlife watching, horse riding and much more.

Our campsite is family friendly with family shower rooms, children’s play area and an area for ball games. Pets are also welcome; you’ll find designated dog walks near the campsite. Other great campsite facilities include washing machines, dishwashing facilities, an on-site shop and access to Wi-fi. Caravans, motorhomes, tents, and trailer tents are all allowed at the campsite, and there are multiple pitch types to suit your camping needs.

To get to Twycross Zoo from our Conkers Club Site, you can either drive for 12 minutes to the zoo or leave your belongings behind and catch a bus, which is less than a mile from our campsite entrance.

The Gruffalo Discovery Land at Twycross Zoo

Immerse yourself in the fun and interactive world of ‘The Gruffalo’. Based on the children’s bestselling book, Gruffalo Discovery Land is the perfect family-friendly activity park with plenty to do.

Journey through the enchanted woods, where you'll encounter real-life owls, snakes, butterflies, and more. Keep an eye out for the Gruffalo himself and greet all your favourite woodland characters.

As you walk through the park, explore the Animal Discovery Zone, where you'll learn fascinating facts about all the storybook animals. You can also join the Gruffalo Ranger quest, where you’ll collect stamps and learn how to protect the creatures that live in the deep, dark woods. Before heading off, dance and sing along with the book's characters in the live performances.

Twycross Zoo events

Throughout the year, Twycross Zoo puts on spectacular events. You’ll see incredible animal brick sculptures around the park in the Animal Bricktacular summertime event. If you’re visiting during October, stay alert as Halloween has spread around the zoo, and you’re in for a spook. You can also become part of the ‘Zoo Crew’ by completing challenges and missions and gaining badges.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Play Park

There’s nothing better than cooling down on a hot day by plunging into water. Sat near the penguin enclosure, children can splash around in the Wet ‘n’ Wild Play Park.

Soft Play Jungle

Let the kids run wild at Twycross Zoo's Soft Play Jungle. There are designated areas for different age groups to play in, including babies (between 1 and 2), toddlers (between 2 and 5) and juniors (between 5 and 12). While running around, parents can relax in the large seating area and enjoy a hot or cold drink and snacks from the café.

Nature Reserve

Get your steps in and walk through the nature reserve where you’ll see important native wetlands habitat. Learn about their importance to the planet and meet the animals in the reserve. You’ll find bats, birds, insects, and small mammals in the Twycross Zoo nature reserve.

Twycross Zoo rules on dogs:

Due to the distress that dogs can cause to the animals at Twycross Zoo, dogs are not allowed on the premises. Assistance dogs are permitted but must stay in certain zones.

Accessibility at Twycross Zoo:

Twycross Zoo has many access points for wheelchair or pushchair users, but there is no disabled access to the inside of the lemur house.

At Twycross Zoo, you’ll also find parking specifically for blue badge holders, disability-friendly toilets, and baby-changing facilities.
