As a caring canine chum, I really feel it’s time my pal Ted had a holiday. He’s getting a little stressed. I know this because he is busy ‘franking’ mail with his teeth as it pops through the letterbox.
The good news is that missives have started arriving from campsite owners, imploring us to go back and savour their lovely walks to the beach and splendid views from their grassy pitches.
The chauffeur and the maid tend to be creatures of habit and often make bold plans to set off somewhere new and exciting. The wilds of northern Scotland, perhaps, or even a trip that would mean Ted and I having to obtain a ‘pet passport’. Then, as the day before the holiday arrives, they say to each other: “Shall we go back to Weymouth/Scarborough/Cromer?”
I must say my favourite Club Site so far is Scarborough in Field Lane, off Burniston Road.
It’s open and spacious, ideal for a short trek to a breath-taking coastal walk. It’s a bus ride (buses stop right outside the site) or a bracing walk into Scarborough if you prefer. And the good news for cost-conscious folk is that this Club Site is one of those that will be £4.50 cheaper per night in high season this year for families, compared with last year’s prices.
So why not grab a bargain and, if you’ve not been before, try it yourself this summer?

You never know, you might see me (and Ted!) there. That’s if we're not at Weymouth or Cromer...
