An excellent site in every way! We had a super stay here. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had good food and my son and daughter loved the chance to cool down in the unheated open air pool during the hot weather we had during our stay.
Although the showers were a little tight in space for a larger woman like me, they were clean and easy to use. The toilet block was also clean. Even in the busiest times, I never had to queue for shower, washroom or toilet facilities. There were plenty of walks and my son particularly liked the Barefoot Trail. There is a large field and super play area for the younger visitors too. The onsite shop was open late as was the bar for that late nightcap!
Larochette itself had a bank and a supermarket that were easy to get to and there were a few places to eat but the onsite restaurant was better. We often ventured further afield to eat too but the local supermarket or onsite shop provided us with everything we needed for dining in the tent. Auf Kengert is the perfect base to visit Germany, France and Belgium and The Netherlands is also with in reach if you don't mind driving a couple of hours. There are plenty of historical ruins and castles in the area and my son enjoyed going to Roman ruins in nearby Echternach and the Roman Villa in Borg, which was a reconstruction of the real thing. Here we sampled Roman food in the restaurant. We also visited the castles in Diekirch and Larochette itself, the latter being excellent value for money and well worth a visit. Luxembourg City had more history to offer in the form of the Casemates, allowing insight into the interesting history of Luxembourg.
All in all, the whole family had a brilliant holiday on this camp site and we would all highly recommend Auf Kengert to any discerning campers. We will certainly go back there in the future.
Many thanks to the family running this superb camp site and for making our holiday so enjoyable.
