Overview

Explore Scotland's Border country from your pitch.

The wide open space and stunning scenery make the Scottish borders a walker’s paradise. If you’re planning to visit our Lauder Club campsite be sure to bring your walking boots. The 212 mile Southern Upland Way passes south of the campsite, there’s the lure of the Lammermuir Hills and further afield Arthur’s Seat - an ancient hill fort in Holyrood Park - offers fabulous views of Edinburgh. There are numerous trails direct from site too.

The rural setting of our Lauder campsite means you can be sure of a relaxing break during your stay in border country. The site is well kept and has 60 mainly level pitches served by a good range of modern facilities. A burn runs alongside the site, providing a habitat for local wildlife and birds.

Four miles from the campsite the town of Lauder offers a mix of history, scenery and sightseeing. Thirlestane Castle, one of the seven great houses of Scotland, is here. Its stunning parklands overlook the Lammermuir Hills and the Southern Upland Way passes through the grounds. Visitors can enjoy a woodland walk, small formal garden and picnic area near the castle.

A 40 minute drive north from Lauder will find you in Edinburgh (you could also catch a bus from outside the campsite to the capital or Jedburgh). The medieval buildings of the Royal Mile and the magnificent castle are among its attractions.

We stayed here for one night on our way to the Lake District.

This review is for Lauder

We stayed here for one night on our way to the Lake District. It was quiet and pretty and a lovely stop over spot. The weather was foul but this did not detract from our enjoyment. What stood out were the loos and showers, which were spotless and wonderfully heated, what a pleasure. There was a hotel within two minutes walk that we did not use but which looked handy. Highly recommended.

This site was the highlight of our multi-site holiday.

This review is for Lauder

This site was the highlight of our multi-site holiday. The location was lovely, a stream running alongside our pitch, views of the gorse covered hills, the sound of sheep in the pastures, rabbits and bird life all around and loved watching the bats in a evening. Access to the site was good - just off a main road, though the turning up to the site could be missed as although it was signposted the access road went behind the pub/restaurant and through the car park so we thought we had gone wrong at first. We got a nice welcome from the friendly wardens, who were also very helpful in terms of providing information about local walks etc. They worked hard to keep the site looking lovely with a fine display of hanging baskets. The facilities were clean and well maintained. There was a good dog walking area with bins provided and if this wasn't enough you could walk down a quiet country lane from the site and access the countryside. Lauder was close by and had a small but fantastically well stocked co-op supermarket and filling station which we used for most of our provisions during our stay. This would make a good base for going into Edinburgh via car (excellent park and ride facilities available just outside the city) or once the new borders railway opens in Sept 2015, rail access should also be easy. We spend most of our stay exploring the borders towns of Peebles, Melrose etc which weren't far away and did some lovely walks including Melrose and the Eildon Hills, and Kelso to Roxburgh along the river. We thought it a super base and loved the area, we would love to go back.

“We have just returned from a wonderful stay in one of the four timber chalets at Lauder and have to say the stay totally surpassed our expectations! The chalet was incredible value (and we stayed as non-members in high season) - very spacious yet cosy, spotless and had absolutely everything you'd need for a break away. We were even allowed to have our dog stay with us in the chalet which was great. . The site was very peaceful and perfect for the quiet retreat we were looking for. Easily accessible, a lovely pub right on the doorstep and incredible walking trails right from the site - all in all it's a real gem, we can't wait to return!”
