A wonderfully secluded campsite hidden in the Welsh hills.
Rhandirmwyn (pronounced ran-dee-mo-n) Club campsite lies just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park. The name means ‘Valley of the minerals’ and is a lead mining area in the Towy Valley.
The campsite is situated in the middle of the valley and the lively River Towy run alongside it. The campsite is spacious and well set out with excellent facilities. Surrounded by hills and trees it’s ideal for families or individuals interested in walking, cycling or just relaxing.
There are many beautiful hill and river walks within easy reach of this campsite. The Cambrian Way passes through the edge of the site. The circular all-ability access trail in Cwmrhaeadr Forest, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite is perfect for cyclists. There are two nice pubs in the village, your reward for completing the steep climb up to them!
Head south from the campsite to the Usk reservoir in the National Park. An eight-mile trail wends its way around the shore. Fishing is available here too. The nearby Glasfyndd Forest also has great walking and cycling tracks.
Llyn Brianne reservoir is also worth a visit. The road around the reservoir has some breathtaking views. Also visit the subterreanean world of the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. As well as the caves you can visit the dinosaur park, shire horse centre and the Iron Age village. The 13th century hillside Carreg Cenne Castle is south of the campsite near the village of Trapp.
Don’t miss a visit to the RSPB Dinas Nature Reserve where you can spot red kites. You can see more red kites as well as ravens and buzzards at Gigrin Farm Bird reserve in the market town of Rhayader.

Was here for 2 weeks. I left the van on site and walked everywhere with my dog. The layout of the site is good, nice to have a dog poo bin at both ends of the site, and right next to the river Towy, fishing permit available at the Royal Oak. Half hour walk to the Towy Bridge pub, which was under new ownership. Made very welcome. The Royal Oak just up the lane was nice as well (closed 2-6 p.m.), both dog friendly. Did the walks provided at the the site, although there as been a lot of felling and new forest roads. The site sells a fantastic map, which is very good for walkers. Walked up the road to Llyn Brianne, over the dam then down the track to Troed-rhiw-ruddwen back to the road and a pint at the Towy Bridge, which is open all day. 5 hours walk. Besides at the reservoir I met no-one on any of the walks! The weather was pretty grim, but this added to the atmosphere in the forests and around the old lead mines.(interesting history) I will be back here for sure.

Probably the most secluded site we have visited and surrounded by natural beauty. Set by a river, the site is perfect for walkers and relaxation alike. You can also mountain bike the local trails.
Two nice pubs in walking distance, no shops, but the village pub doubles as a shop and the campsite shop provides all basics.
We will return.

Situated in a beautiful quiet valley. Their is no mobile reception which suited me fine. On site wifi is available but can be frustrating in bad weather, as I found out in the July monsoon season!!! Staff are very helpful and welcoming, all facilities are spotless and cleaned every day, I especially enjoyed not having to repeatedly press a button to use the shower, as I'm sure most of us can workout when to turn it off without a timer!!! Overall I had a very relaxing enjoyable holiday. A big thank you to the staff of the Rhandirmwyn campsite.

“Yet another fabulous weeks holiday at this superb site. Friendly welcome from the wardens who maintain the site to a remarkable standard. The scenery is absolutely stunning and there are some fabulous walks along the river Towy in both directions as well as some more strenuous ones.
Can highly recommend this site for anybody who appreciates nature and beautiful scenery. We will definitely be returning.”
