Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

The site is situated near to the historic city of Chester and is nice to catch the train into the city. The train station is situated just a few minutes walk away from the site (good little caf situated at the station as well). The forest is excellent full of al sorts of adventure for the family, from walking, mountain biking to out door pursuits like Go Ape). Delamere is relatively at the centre of Cheshire with several good access point onto major roads (M56, M6 and M53) all within 10 to 15 minutes drive. With a variety of local attraction such as Oulton Park (racing Circuit), Anderton Boat Lift, Peckforton / Beaston Castles to name a few. The Forest has currently got a Gruffalo trail which is a nice way of getting the kids to get some exercise too! All in all a great site to visit.

We've stayed here four times now and each visit has been really enjoyable. Despite the road nearby the site is quite and peaceful even the train line beside the site is unobtrusive. Pleasant walks in the woods around the site and plenty of wild life to be seen. We will definitely be visiting again.

On arrival we where shown a choice of available pitches.

On arrival we where shown a choice of available pitches. We chose a pitch at the far end of the site although this was a distance from the toilets etc. The site was less than a third full when we visited, if the site was full it is difficult to see how the toilets / showers would cope. Only 2 waste water empty points and the site would be better with a third at the far end of the site. Although next to the railway line this was not loud, the road running passed the site was louder as all the traffic seemed to speed by. Train to chester was next door and quick. Good cycling / walking down the forest paths.
