Tregurrian is a great for watersports & people looking for a seaside holiday.

Camp at our Tregurrian Club campsite and you’ll be spoilt for choice of beaches to visit. There are fourteen close to our stunning campsite in the North Cornwall, located just north of the popular seaside town of Newquay.

Watergate Bay is the closest and is a short walk from the campsite along the South West Coastal Path. This two-mile stretch of golden sand is popular with families. The Atlantic swell here also makes it equally appealing to watersport lovers. The beach hosts annual surfing events too.

Surfers will also be drawn to Newquay for Fistral Beach which also hosts a number of events through the summer including surf championships, a fun dog show and the popular Boardmasters event which includes skate and BMX competitions, live music and competitive surfing. Other attractions of the town include Newquay Zoo, and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway and you could spot seals and dolphins in the harbour.

Our pretty Tregurrian campsite offers 90 level pitches. The well thought out site has immaculate faciliites including a handy wetsuit shower.

A few miles up the coast Padstow has some excellent restaurants, including one owned by celebrity chef Rick Stein while Watergate Bay is home to Jamie Oliver’s 15 Cornwall Restaurant.

Our overall impression of this site was set on arrival, and it was really not good. We had been waiting at the office for only a couple of minutes, as it was locked and there was a sign on the door saying the staff were working on site. Another camper who had been there a week was also waiting to order some pasties before going out for the afternoon - it was lunch time. So waiting seemed reasonable to us. A lady warden then emerged from a motorhome next to the entrance and proceeded to give us what I can only describe as a bit of a ticking off for being so stupid as to wait there for someone to turn up. "I'm on my lunch break, if you see this notice (much finger waving at this point), you need to go and look for someone". Well, if it means that, it should jolly well say that. She then unlocked and booked us in. By now a male warden had also turned up, and we were then ceremoniously walked through the site to our allotted hard standing pitch, told how to park, and supervised while we did so, making sure we placed the motorhome inch-perfect. The pitch was tiny, and no awning, pegging, or windbreak of any kind was allowed. The site and facilities are well maintained, I was most surprised to find the toilets being checked and swept out at 10:30pm at night. But we also had a lovely restful sunny Sunday ruined by a cacophany of petrol driven mowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers going on for pretty much the entire day. We probably caught a major bit of gardening maintenance which doesn't happen often, but it was still unpleasant. We also witnessed a couple of slightly heated discussions between the same person who had booked us in and other campers who had parked a foot, literally a foot, too far over, or had a windbreak in the wrong place. People go on holiday to relax, not be treated like naughty children, and frankly if the pitches are so small that they require this level of enforcement, then there are clearly just too many pitches crammed in here. We won't return.

A bit too far from beach pubs to walk to and a bit dangerous from traffick. Pubs expensive and poor quality. Fish and chip van handy but not very nice,

Absolutely loved this location. It's brilliant if you like walking, which we do.

Absolutely loved this location. It's brilliant if you like walking, which we do. We walked to Mawgan Porth and Porth on coastal path. To St Mawgan via road. The beach is fantastic and easy to reach. However, it is a bit of a climb going back, so some people might like to take the car. Great for dogs. Wardens very friendly and the place is kept lovely. Unfortunately, not all dog owners clean their dog mess up. Might be better if there was more dog bins in the lane, but that's for the council to sort not CCC. Our No.1 spot so far and will definitely be going there again next year.
