The surrounding area

Beautiful beaches, stunning cliffs, pretty villages and quaint hamlets all make up Cornwall’s unspoilt Roseland Peninsula. It’s here you’ll find our charming Veryan Club campsite just off the Roseland Heritage Coast. The South West Coast Path is a mile and a half from site and the great beaches of Veryan - Carne Beach, Pendower Beach with East and West Portholland Beaches just a little further.

The mild climate in and around the Roseland Peninsula means plants flourish here. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, and the National Trust’s wonderful Trelissick Garden are testament to this.

Head to St Mawes, south of the campsite. From this pretty fishing village, catch the ferry to the seaside town of Falmouth. As well as great beaches, Falmouth offers the National Maritime Museum of Cornwal and Pendennis Castle.

Suggested route should be fine for all types of unit but care is needed getting to some attractions due to narrow lanes. Beaches at Carne and Pendower have plenty of parking (NT) but no lifeguards, at least when we where there. If going into Truro I would recommend the Park & Ride which has a supermarket as well. There are plenty of attractions in the area, including National Trust. We particularly make a point if seeing a production at the Minack Theatre, which is well worth the journey, although this year we got rather wet in heavy drizzile. The cream tea on the Quarter Deck of the Nare Hotel, adjacent to Carne Beach is also recommended.

Hard standing fit caravan and awning.

This review is for Veryan

Hard standing fit caravan and awning. Recommend pitches top left of site as enter as the ones further round are opposite each other. If the farmer has planted a new crop in the field behind be aware that a scatter gun movement sensor will sound regularly at all times of the day and night. This was annoying at first but after a while was not an issue. The site staff were registering complaints and owner was engaging farmer. The staff indicated there had also been minor flooding following rain at the lower end of the site close to entrance. Good water/ waste point in field with lots of room and on a concrete platform so no mud! The facilities were well maintained and clean. Lots of toilets and showers which meant no queuing. Tv room, pool table and ping pong table for teens! Dog walking area with dog waste bin. Recycle glass only which is my only criticism as I would have liked plastic and card as well. Fish and chip van visits weeknights and there are some local pubs if you do not want to cook. Aldi/ Sainsburies etc in Truro about 30 mins away. There is a fuel station and space shop at the end of the road which had everything. The fuel was relatively cheap for area. Lots of things to do from here. Recommend Carhaeys beach which is £4. St Mawes, Porth and Tegowan beach, St Anthony's head and SW coastal path are also well worth a visit.

We had great weather which added to our enjoyment and we made the most of the local attractions particularly enjoying, the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trelissick. We walked quite a lot and found some lovely beaches some quaint and picturesque spots. If there was a downside for us it was the amount of time and driving to get to Lands End and the Lizard, but we packed the time on the Roseland Peninsula full and so the other activities will have to wait for another time and another site.
