Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Super friendly wardens. Well maintained site.

This review is for Barnard Castle

Super friendly wardens. Well maintained site. Basic toilet and shower facilities but exceptionally clean and perfectly adequate. Excellent dog walk facility with plenty of space for an energetic dog to run off lead. A short drive (4-5 mins) or walk (25 mins) to Barnard Castle which has lovely shops, the fabulous Bowes Museum and the castle itself. Lots of good restaurants in the town. A nice site for a couple of nights for a peaceful break.

Lots of things to see and do in the area. 'Barney' itself has good independent shops, restaurants and coffee shops. The Bowes museum is great. High force, Durham, Hawes, Richmond are all worth visiting.
