Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Warm welcome from the staff. Choice of pitches. Facilities were always spotless. Good dog walks. Fish and chip van visited, good food and plenty of it. Lovely walk to the town. High Force waterfall is great visit. The only downside to this lovely site is the speed some vehicles travel on the campsite roads.

The walk into Barnard Castle, through the woods, needs good footwear unless it has been really dry. Good site for walking with quite a few local walks from 4 to 10.5 miles passing by the site itself. It is only approximately 1.5 miles into Barnard Castle via the woods where there is the starting point for circular walks using sections of the Teesdale Way varing from 3 to 9 miles.
