Pitch on the shores of Lake Windermere and explore the southern Lakes from this site.

Braithwaite Fold campsite sits on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.

Our compact site has 66 level hardstanding with electric hook up pitches – and is well laid out. There are modern facilities including an undercover washing up area, laundry and disabled facilities. 3 grass pitches for tents only.

Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite. Enjoy a steam cruise or have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.

Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead - home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived - and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.

Fell Foot Park at the lake’s southern tip is perfect for picnics and paddling. Near here you’ll also find the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

Worth Noting

This site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. If you have more than one car or you are a visiting the camp site you will have to park your car in the pay and display next door to the site.

So much to do right 'on the doorstep', walking, cycling, boat trips, buses to other lakes and towns. Bowness easy walk for independent shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarket etc. or the bus into Windermere stops right at the entrance to the site. Very helpful and friendly team at Braithwaite Fold. Showers/toilets always clean, lots of hot water and, though the site was full, did not have to queue for the facilities. Enjoyed our stay and would return to discover more of the area.

From booking in to siting our caravan we were treated to friendly professional service from the duty wardens. The site is well serviced with water and waste disposal points with easy access. We have already booked for 2018 and looking forward to our next visit to this pleasant site with such a prime position in the beautiful Lake District. Brian and Janet

We stayed on this site in June 2017. I have been many times before, but how it is being run is appalling. When entering site there are empty pitches oh can i go there no so we pass all the pitches we would like to go on and finish up with one nobody wants. I also asked when i booked for awning pitch i did not get one.I think it is all about cramming people on now, Anywhere there is a little bit of room put something on it not good enough.Profit first
