Pitch on the shores of Lake Windermere and explore the southern Lakes from this site.

Braithwaite Fold campsite sits on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.

Our compact site has 66 level hardstanding with electric hook up pitches – and is well laid out. There are modern facilities including an undercover washing up area, laundry and disabled facilities. 3 grass pitches for tents only.

Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite. Enjoy a steam cruise or have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.

Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead - home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived - and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.

Fell Foot Park at the lake’s southern tip is perfect for picnics and paddling. Near here you’ll also find the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

We're sorry but this site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. Second vehicles will need to park in the pay and display next to the site.

Worth Noting

This site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. If you have more than one car or you are a visiting the camp site you will have to park your car in the pay and display next door to the site.

Our welcome was warm and friendly.

This review is for Braithwaite Fold

Our welcome was warm and friendly. Kath and Dave and the assistant wardens/ managers were fantastic. They made the experience of checking in and pitching up so easy and relaxing. The site is set out beautifully, clearly marked pitches. The grass recently mowed looked immaculate. There are hanging baskets and creative plant displays all around the site making it look attractive and pleasing to the eye. The toilet and washing facilities were spotless. Obvious hard work on the part of the site managers. Well done! This is a friendly site well organised and managed. Information area upto date with activities and useful leaflets. First class. Will we be back? Most certainly! Thank you Kath and Dave. We were so pleased with the service and facilities we joined the Caravan and Camping Club. See you again very soon.

This is a convenient site for Bowness but also for touring the southern lakes and even further afield. The facilities are excellent as are the management team. It is near Beatrice Potter landmarks as well as Wordworth's. There is moderate walking and good transport links near the site. This is not a large site but was always full during our stay. The pitches are not the roomiest but are adequate for caravan and awning. The hardcore was a bit impenetrable in places for pegging down but that is a small factor and we managed. We would recommend a visit via the car ferry to Hill Top for an enjoyable day out with moderate walking. Ambleside gives another perspective on the area and is worth a visit for the food by way of a cruise on the lake and a walk. We would return to this site without hesitation because there were so many things we wanted to do but left undone for lack of time. This is a site to enjoy and return to.

Fabulous welcome. Good pitch . Very central to Bowness and Windermere. Only problem was when in showers. Water invaded other cubicles when showering. Recommended club site.

This site is one of the cleanest sites we have ever been on.

This review is for Braithwaite Fold

This site is one of the cleanest sites we have ever been on. The toilet and shower facilities were amazingly clean and warm with fresh carnations in the Gents. It rained most of the time we were there but it didn't matter. It was such a pleasure to be there. So peaceful ,yet 15 minutes and you're in the bustling town of Bowness with lots of good restaurants and bustling pubs to choose from On leaving ,Richard came and wished us well. We can't wait to go back. A huge thank you to all the staff for being so nice.
