Ideal for tent campers and handy for Scafell Pike, Wastwater & Eskdale cycle trail.

Our Eskdale Club campsite is nestled in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the Lake District.

The area is a paradise for walkers and so Eskdale campsite is well equipped for tent campers, backpackers and cycle campers. Motorhomes are also welcome.

Modern heated facilities include a drying room, showers, washing machine and a well-stocked shop. The campsite also has ten camping pods and a camping barn sleeping up to eight if you fancy glamping or want to camp as a group.

Boot is within walking distance of the campsite with dog-friendly pubs and a station for the seven-mile Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, which passes through the Eskdale Valley. Scafell Pike is easily accessed from the campsite, but if that is a little too ambitious more gentle walks take in Stanley Ghyll Falls and Burnmoor Tarn.

For days out go to Muncaster Castle and the World Owl Centre or enjoy the amazing mountain scenery of the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass.

Fully equipped Camping Barn - £135 per night
Camping Pods - £43.75 per night

Only booked in here initially because as usual could not get into Keswick.

Only booked in here initially because as usual could not get into Keswick. However it turned out much better than expected. Has all the right ingredients namely, easy walk to pubs(2), countryside, clean and quiet location and excellent facilities Additionally only 5 mins walk from the famed Eskdale to Ravenglass Railway. If you have a big outfit don't come down the Hard Knott pass, go the scenic route and approach from a westerley quadrant

Since the last 15 years we regularly visit the UK and since about 5 or 6 years we stick to the clubs campsites as foreign temporary members (coming from the Netherlands) The last two years we stayed at Eskdale. Besides the presence of the wonderful team of Martyn, Sarah and their helpers it is the lack of large motor homes and caravans that makes this a special place. If there was not so much more to see in the UK this would definitely be the camping where we would go back every year. We also think Martyn is one of the most flexible hosts we ever met. Even some not so clever changes in our last booking were corrected with a smile. Last year WiFi was introduced although we kind of liked the more romantic way of a three minute walk to the Brook House Inn for their slow free WiFi , their nice beers and their very good kitchen. Both campsite and pub are very dogfriendly. What surprised us a bit in the negative was that a lot of guests allowed their dogs to pee on the the logs available as a "table" for your BBQ so the grass would not burn.

Arrived a little late in the day to be met by a very friendly owner.

Arrived a little late in the day to be met by a very friendly owner. A suitable non-soggy place was found for me and both the on-site and local facilities were clearly explained - including the discounted meals at a local inn for members on the site. The site itself is immaculately kept and completely at one with the surroundings. This is the first time I have used the site as it was never 100% clear that campervans were welcome (large motorhomes would find the local roads a bit challenging, particularly in peak seasons). I've always used other nearby sites in the past but will look forward to returning here from now on.

“We have just stayed in the camping barn at Eskdale with two daughters and four grandchildren. It is a superb facility with virtually all the equipment you could want and plenty of electric points. The camp beds are good too. The site is lovely , and was quiet even though packed and full of families with children. The views are wonderful and the station for the steam train to the coast at Ravenglass is a ten minute walk away. The wardens at the site were extremely helpful and friendly, and the shop is very well stocked. The loo facilities seem new and are very clean. ”
