Pitch up here at this lovely hillside campsite at the gateway to the southern Lake District.
Our Kendal Club campsite is ideally located for those who enjoy walking and cycling. The hills and peaks of the southern Lake District are on the doorstep while the Yorkshire Dales National Park is around a 30 minute drive away.
This beautiful campsite feels secluded yet is within walking distance of Kendal itself where you’ll find a selection of shops, a supermarket, two castles, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery as well as the award-winning Quaker Tapestry Exhibition.
The campsite enjoys lovely fell views, offers spacious pitches and has good range of facilities including a laundry, children’s play area as well as toilets and showers.
Windermere is around nine miles from Kendal campsite. Here you can board a steamer, launch a boat, windsurf or canoe. Back on land the World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness on Windermere offers the chance to meet Peter Rabbit and his friends. On the western shores the National Trust owned woodlands, Claife Heights, is great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting.
Amblseside at the northern tip of the lake is the starting point for the challenging Wansfell, the Langdales and other mountain. You can also walk to Stock Ghyll Force from the centre of the town. Pretty Grasmere is worth a visit. Treat yourself to some of Sarah Nelson’s famous gingerbread. You’ll find the Grasmere Gingerbread shop tucked away in the corner of the churchyard.
Some pitches are sloping and chocks are required.

just returned from the last 5 nights of the season, first time at this site, wardens ok but not over friendly, facilities are old fashioned but clean, the problem is that there are two showers and two toilets so deciding to close the toilets and showers for cleaning from 10.30am till 12 noon seams a bit daft, this is normally quite a busy time for toilet blocks, i think they should be cleaned later in the day.

I was only there for one night but found it quite satisfactory. Ideal for Kendal and the surrounding areas. The staff were very helpful and kept everything looking good. I would be quite happy to stay for longer next time even if it rained again!

Just got back from the Bank Holiday weekend, Site was a lot cheaper than Windermere. Very quiet site next to weir, nice waking up to the sound of it. The toilets and showers though acceptable there wasn't enough at times as there were queues at peak times for both toilets and showers.
I would say that this site needs bringing into the 21st Century with bigger and more facilities and private washing rooms.
I'm not disabled but there isn't any wheel chair access to the facilities either.
After saying all this we would go back.

This was our first time camping for at least 10 years and we couldn't have chosen a better site to get back into the camping spirit.
It's a lovely clean site run by some friendly people. We were shown to our pitch, someone else returned a while later to see if we had everything we needed (maybe we looked like rabbits in headlights!)
The toilet blocks are as very clean and the showers are spider free, always a winner! They were checked regularly, I saw them sweeping and replacing toilet roll at 10 p.m and 6 a.m. They are 2 showers in each block so you do need to get to them early to avoid queuing.
Whilst we were there a group of young lads made a nuisance of themselves quite late at night/early morning. The site owner dealt with it when he found out - at 7 a.m. the lads were told to leave. You couldn't have asked for more.
I would definitely return to this site, it's a great one for young families - there is a play area with a large grassy area for running around/ball games. Dogs are also welcomed, there is a dog walk and the neighbouring farmer is very friendly - he watched our dog destroy his perfectly behaved dogs tennis ball and took it very well!
You also don't need to take too much in the way of food as there's a big Morrisons about a 15 minute walk away.
