Please note that between 24th April and 19th June 2017 there will be some necessary development works taking place on site. Certain areas may be taped off, and there could be some noise from 9am-4pm.

If you’re planning to explore the northern Lakes, our Keswick Club campsite on the shores of Derwentwater is hard to beat as a base for your explorations.

The site boasts a prime location in the north of the Lake District with stunning views extending over the lake to the hills beyond. Keswick is an organised campsite with good facilities – showers, toilets, washing up area, a laundry and a new backpacker room, particularly useful for those arriving on foot or by bike. Keswick town is within walking distance and ticks all the boxes for provisions, outdoor gear, eating and drinking.

Whether you’re a stroller, a rambler, a high-level walker or prefer to see the sights on two wheels, you can take your pick from numerous lake- and hillside tracks and trails easily accessible from Keswick campsite. Skiddaw is also easily reached from site. And, with Derwentwater so close at hand there’s no shortage of water-based activities to dip into. This stretch of water is popular for canoeing and kayaking. For a small fee you can launch directly from the Sites shoreline.

Fishing can be enjoyed on the lake too. Try the eastern shore or hire a boat from one of the marinas and head to the centre of the lake to catch pike, bream and trout.

For a less energetic way to enjoy the water and the views board one of the motor launches which operate around the lake and offer several drop off points.

At the southern end of Derwentwater is the beautiful valley of Borrowdale where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the medieval and much photographed pack horse bridge at Ashness.

Worth Noting

Due to the possibility of Site flooding all units must have a tow vehicle on site overnight. There may be restrictions on pitch availability and use of awnings. If you have more than one car or are visiting the site you may be asked to park off-site.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available.

Eat Local

There is a farmers' market in Keswick on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Clearly had been dealing with a load of flooding and were managing the site the best way possible. Very helpful and friendly. Toilets and showers (both blocks) very clean. Washing up areas very clean. Hot water always available. Good number of sites for waste and clean water. Well laid out site so that while it was busy, you never felt crowded, although that might change if it was full summer holidays, don't know. Not really a site if you want solitude as it is quite big. Very close to the town centre - about 5 minutes walk away. Plenty of great independent shops as well - don't just go to the supermarkets!! Oh and if you visit in April, don't miss the wild garlic growing along the hedge on the route into and out of the site ;)

This must be the leading, and foremost campsite in the UK.

This must be the leading, and foremost campsite in the UK.The facilities are top of the range, with private cubicles, clean showers, just right temperature and as much hot water as you need.Dishwashing area is fine, and also a large launderette. The views are amazing, and Keswick town is very dog friendly. One negative is site staff who are not the best we have come across regarding customer service, very negative attitude especially manager who came across as very pompous.

The town is just a very short walk away and is lovely for shopping. Booths food store is very expensive. Being on the lake is fab. We did have a phone call at about 3.45pm asking where we were as we had stated we would be there at 1pm. It's hard to judge the traffic over 300 miles!! We were also told that dog was not allowed to wee on the grass. My very intelligent collie has not yet mastered the art of telling me when he wants to wee so this was impossible and is use to weeing on the grass so yes he did wee on the grass next to our pitch as others did. We did keep him off other people's pitches but that was the best we could do

Great site in wonderful location, staff were very friendly & worked hard to keep the facilities spotless. It is within a very short walk of Keswick with a variety of shops & a good supermarket plus great buses. Our only criticism is the size of the hard standings which are very small & it's almost impossible to have a unit & awning on them, & because of their small size the grass around many had been churned up by units trying to manoeuvre onto them. However this is a wonderful site with wonderful staff in a wonderful location.
