A beautiful location, Keswick campsite is great for active campers.

If you’re planning to explore the northern Lakes, our Keswick Club campsite on the shores of Derwentwater is hard to beat as a base for your explorations. The site boasts a prime location in the north of the Lake District with stunning views extending over the lake to the hills beyond.

Keswick is an organised campsite with good facilities – showers, toilets, washing up area, a laundry and a new backpacker room, particularly useful for those arriving on foot or by bike. Keswick town is within walking distance and ticks all the boxes for provisions, outdoor gear, eating and drinking.

Whether you’re a stroller, a rambler, a high-level walker or prefer to see the sights on two wheels, you can take your pick from numerous lake- and hillside tracks and trails easily accessible from Keswick campsite. Skiddaw is also easily reached from site. And, with Derwentwater so close at hand there’s no shortage of water-based activities to dip into. This stretch of water is popular for canoeing and kayaking.

Fishing can be enjoyed on the lake too. Try the eastern shore or hire a boat from one of the marinas and head to the centre of the lake to catch pike, bream and trout.

For a less energetic way to enjoy the water and the views board one of the motor launches which operate around the lake and offer several drop off points.

At the southern end of Derwentwater is the beautiful valley of Borrowdale where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the medieval and much photographed pack horse bridge at Ashness.

Worth Noting

Due to the possibility of Site flooding all units must have a tow vehicle on site overnight. There may be restrictions on pitch availability and use of awnings. If you have more than one car or are visiting the site you may be asked to park off-site.

At last the C&C Club have listened to punters and refurbished the upper toilet block.

At last the C&C Club have listened to punters and refurbished the upper toilet block. (I understand the lower block is to follow) After so many years of needing it this is greatly appreciated, although I agree with a previous review comment that two privacy cubicles are too few. I have ended up mainly having two showers a day as I will not strip off for a wash at a row of open basins. The bonuses though are many and the staff rightly proud of the new block. Unfortunately I have no answer as to how the staff can educate people to leave the facilities as they would wish to find them. They shouldn't be expected to clean up other people's mess. One thing I still think would be a benefit would be an open shower at the lake side so that people can rinse off the mud from the lake instead of leaving the residue in the shower. The new backpacking facilities room is a real benefit and will I am sure be well used. The site overall is exceptionally well run and the staff provide a very good service in difficult circumstances. As we have been coming to this site for well over 20 years our love of the site and location speaks for itself. We look forward to many more years to come.

This was our first visit to a club site and we'll definitely be back.

This was our first visit to a club site and we'll definitely be back. I have visited many many campsites over the years and never came across one with such immaculately clean toilet/shower facilities. The staff on site were really friendly and there was plenty of space between pitches so it didn't feel cramped. Was very impressed with the help offered when our friends' tent was flooded out (after abnormally torrential rain!). Only two little bits of criticism. It was a bit of a trek from the bottom of the site to the toilet block, especially with a 3yr old in tow(15 min round trip) and I was surprised that there was a charge to have freezer blocks frozen. On the whole though, I would highly recommend this site to anyone and everyone. We'll definitely be back!

This is our second visit to this site and we were not disappointed.

This is our second visit to this site and we were not disappointed. The site managers and their assistants were both welcoming and friendly we had a hard standing pitch for our motor home and it was great to see the mix of caravans, tents and motor homes all well managed. The site was clean and the facilities were good, a new toilet block etc was most welcome however the old block was always well maintained throughout our stay. A lovely dog walk on site. Town only a short walk away, with a great bus service. My dogs Max and Luna were made most welcome and would look each day for the fuss made off them. We will be back again very soon.
