Enjoy great views and easy access to Keswick and Derwentwater from this site.

Our lovely Troutbeck Club campsite is the perfect base for exploring the Lake District. Its idyllic location surrounded by countryside and with fantastic views of the fells is a walkers’ paradise.

Blencathra and Sharp Edge are easily accessed from the campsite. Less strenuous is the half hour walk to the White Horse pub in Scales. The Coast2Coast cycle way passes by the campsite. Another popular mountain bike route is the Old Coach Road which has splendid views of Blencathra and Skiddaw in parts.

After a day on the hill our campsite offers a peaceful place to relax and soak up the views. Pitches are spacious and toilet and shower facilities are top notch. And there’s a laundry and disabled room too. Children have a small play area and there is ample room to exercise your dog on site. The campsite shop sells local free-range eggs, meat and real ales.

Rookin House Farm Equestrian and Activity Centre in Troutbeck offers horse riding, archery, quad bikes and karting. Ullswater, south of the campsite has numerous sandy beaches. Sailing, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing are all possible here, and fishing for those with the appropriate rod licence.

Lots of walks nearby and easily accessible to towns by car . No local shops that we found.

Lots of walks nearby and easily accessible to towns by car . No local shops that we found. Nearest pub , a half hour walk with great food and dog friendly . The dog exercise area was not accessible due to sheep which was a pity as it was a lovely large field and dogs could have been kept on lead but understandable if farmer had problems with unruly dogs . Waking up to sound of stream gurgling and lambs bleating magical .

We had a great, week-long stay in early May.

This review is for Troutbeck

We had a great, week-long stay in early May. (When the sun shines this area is unbeatable, but when the wind blows you learn a new meaning for shake, rattle and roll!) This site is just ten miles from the M6 with easy access. Sites are a little sloping in places. Wi-Fi was a bit 'in and out' for us (other campers had no problem!?) but surprisingly good TV reception. Ther is a small camp shop; the nearest decent -sized supermarket is in Keswick (about 8 miles away). There is a good, hourly bus service into Keswick, and beyond, and many beautiful walks within a short bus/car journey of the site. Try taking the bus into Keswick from Threlkeld and walking back along the old disused railway to find the 'Horse and Farrier', an award-winning pub. (Hint: Car parking can be up to 7 a day in the Lake District. If you are a member of the National Trust, do your homework beforehand and save yourself sone cash!)

“We had a lovely time for 2 weeks in the Self Catering 6 berth Caravan. Its a beautiful van with central heating. That was a good thing as the area was covered in snow when we came up from Cornwall for our Easter holidays. This our 5th visit to Troutbeck. We visited first with a tent as a couple. We now bring our 2 small children and other family members. We will book again for next year. We will need the Static caravan and our own tourer as each time we come more family want to join us.The site and the owners and staff are all Fab.”
