The surrounding area

Bakewell town is just five miles from the site – try the pudding (not tart) and then visit Haddon Hall and the National Trust’s Ilam Park and on to Dovedale, an iconic and spectacular gorge carved out by the river Dove.

While camping at Bakewell Club Site, take time to witness the ancient custom of Well Dressing – the decorating of wells and springs with pictures made from natural materials. The wells can be seen from May to September.

Outdoor pursuits in the area around the campsite are not in short supply. Climbing, caving, horse riding and, of course, walking and cycling, are all available. Coarse fishing only 1/4 mile from site.

Best site we have ever visited well worth the difficult access.

Best site we have ever visited well worth the difficult access. Beautiful scenery looking out of caravan Very friendly staff made us welcome with 3 dogs There is a good size dog walking area (dogs must be kept on a lead) and foot paths leading away from the site. We visited the Blue John Cavern well worth it and Bakewell to join the Mondale Trail. Will definitely return even though only 30 miles from home

The site a Youlgreave is a nice site with great views of the countryside and for us that's where it stops. The approach road to the site was closed due to roadworks although we were warned of this in the site description, but there were no other instructions of how to get to the site and no diversion signs posted to tell you which way to go. We arrived at site very stressed due to having to travel along very narrow roads. Going through the village of Youlgreave is not for the faint hearted as roads are very narrow with blind bends and cars parked all over the place. The site warden was very helpful on our arrival and saw us to our pitch. Wednesday and Thursday was great on the site, but Friday evening was a different story as the electric went off for most of the site, this was due, we were told caravanners were being selfish using to much electric. Saturday evening the electric went off again and was not restored until 10am on Sunday. There were to many units on site for the electric to maintain sufficient supply. All in all a disappointing experience.
