Camp in the heart of the National Forest with walking and cycling from site.

The National Forest covers 200 squares miles, embracing some of Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. It’s a place to enjoy a variety of activities from forest walks and gentle cycling to horse riding and fishing. It also encompasses numerous attractions from Calke Abbey, the National Brewery Centre, National Memorial Arboretum and right at its heart, Conkers visitor centre offering a Discovery Centre, sculpture trail and an assault course for teenagers. It’s next door to this award-winning attraction that you’ll find our popular Conkers Club campsite.

This well thought out campsite has hardstanding pitches off a large roundabout and plenty of grass pitches for tent campers. The all year round site offers full facilities and has a separate ball game area and an overnight car park. There is an on-site dog walk and plenty of walking and cycling opportunities direct from the campsite including the Ashby World Heritage Trail – a three and a half mile route following the old Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway.

Been camping & caravanning almost 40 years and can't remember a better welcome.

This review is for Conkers, National Forest

Been camping & caravanning almost 40 years and can't remember a better welcome. The warden was really lovely. Couldn't really fault the site at all. We stayed over the Christmas period and despite this, the wardens maintained the toilet block etc to their usual high standards. Will definitely revisit

It was our first time on a site with our dog in our motorhome, and after staying at Conkers it certainly won't be our last! We found everyone helpful and friendly. It was very good for our dog, as the dedicated dog run was well secured so we could throw his ball off lead without him going chasing after squirrels! The shower and toilet block exceeded our expectations, thet were very clean and warm. We will go back at some point during the course of our adventures. Definitely recommended.

We stayed for three nights last weekend while our son was at a residential weekend at Loughborough University, which is about 40 minutes away. The site was quiet, being the weekend before Christmas, but we received a very warm welcome and lots of helpful information and advice. We walked the Conkers Circular (4.5 miles) on Friday afternoon, did the Conkers parkrun on Saturday morning and walked the Ashby Woulds Heritage Trail (8.9 miles) from Conkers to Measham and back on Sunday morning. We enjoyed the farmers market and a nice lunch in Ashby-de-la-Zouch on Saturday and a meal at Prezzo in Swadlincote on Saturday evening. Not our first choice but the preferred options were all fully booked! There is plenty to do in the area if you are active, the site was very good with lovely views across open countryside, the facilities were clean and warm and we would recommend the site.

This review is for Conkers, National Forest

Having recently rejoined the C&CC it's refreshing to find we were allowed to choose our own pitch instead of being instructed by over zealous Wardens. Conkers is a great site with lots of local amenities for both adults and children, plus the location is great for dog owners with lots of walks direct from the Site. Will certainly be visiting again!
