Camp in the heart of the National Forest with walking and cycling from site.

The National Forest covers 200 squares miles, embracing some of Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. It’s a place to enjoy a variety of activities from forest walks and gentle cycling to horse riding and fishing. It also encompasses numerous attractions from Calke Abbey, the National Brewery Centre, National Memorial Arboretum and right at its heart, Conkers visitor centre offering a Discovery Centre, sculpture trail and an assault course for teenagers. It’s next door to this award-winning attraction that you’ll find our popular Conkers Club campsite.

This well thought out campsite has hardstanding pitches off a large roundabout and plenty of grass pitches for tent campers. The all year round site offers full facilities and has a separate ball game area and an overnight car park. There is an on-site dog walk and plenty of walking and cycling opportunities direct from the campsite including the Ashby World Heritage Trail – a three and a half mile route following the old Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway.

Great play area for children and lots of grass too, for them to run around! Really friendly staff. Facilities were kept very well. Dishwashing area is a little cramped, however, and could benefit from being larger. Plenty of hot water, though. Would like to see recycling facilities in place. Will return when grandchildren are a little older to visit Conkers itself. Very enjoyable overall.

Excellent location , near activities ie cycling ,walking and Conkers activity centre .

Excellent location , near activities ie cycling ,walking and Conkers activity centre . Area has been beautifully restored, we were impressed with the regeneration of the old mining areas . Parkland and adventure playgrounds for the youngsters were excellent , Moira Furnace being a very good place for all the family . The site was conveniently place next to Conkers YHA which we found to be an excellent place to go for coffee/ drinks / meals and a pool table kept the youngsters occupied..... , the staff were brilliant , a great facility! Excellent access to Tamworth and Burton on Trent for indoor activities , also Chocolate World for chocoholics and the excellent National Memorial Arboretum . We had not been to the National Forest area before , and thoroughly enjoyed the experience . My only comment on the site facilities , which were kept spotless, would be to consider enlarging the dishwashing area , it was a very cramped area indeed. 3 sinks , but no room to move !
