    Top site for beaches

Our lovely Club Site on the south Devon coast.

The South Hams offers a wonderful mix of coast, moorland and rolling hills and a range of activities to match from walking and cycling to sailing and surfing. For history lovers there are delights such as Totnes Castle and The South Devon Railway, while a range of arts and food festivals and sailing regattas will keep culture-vultures happy.

Where better to base yourself to enjoy these delights than at our lovely Dartmouth Club campsite. Aptly named as the attractive harbour town is just a five minute drive away, the site offer campers stunning sea views over Start Bay. Spacious pitches, a large camping field and family shower room are among the facilities on offer.

There are beaches aplenty - Blackpool Sands is within walking distance – Slapton Sands, Torcross, Beesand Beach and Hall Sands are a short drive away.

Also easily accessed are Totnes, Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. At the latter cross the River Dart to the pretty village of Kingswear and hop on board the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway for a ride along the Torbay coast. While on this side of the river, Greenway is a magical place to explore. Once the holiday home of Agatha Christie it is now managed by the National Trust.

As new CCC members and being fairly new to caravaning, this was our first stay on a CCC site.

This review is for Dartmouth

As new CCC members and being fairly new to caravaning, this was our first stay on a CCC site. It did not disappoint. The facilities were excellent and spotless, the site is peaceful and quiet and the location for exploring South Devon is excellent. At reception there are a few basic items for sale, bus timetables and tourist information. You can also order morning papers. Dartmouth itself is served by a Sainsburys and Lidls - both are opposite each other at the top of the hill on the way into Dartmouth and they are approx short mile from the campsite. Dartmouth is a few minutes away by car. Parking can be limited in Dartmouth but there is a park and ride ( opposite Sainsburys) a bus stop outside the campsite or you can easily walk (steep long downhill) into the town. Dartmouth itself is an exceptional place to visit and it will not disappoint. Going a little further afield Torbay is a very short drive away if you take the ferry from Dartmouth to Kingswear. The village of Salcombe is well worth a visit and nearby beaches are Blackpool (good private beach - no dogs, perfect for children but because it is private expect to pay for parking in season) and Slapton. Although it is a pebble beach it is a huge long beach so there is always plenty of room for everyone. The Coast path is easily accessible from the campsite and so is perfect for walking. You can take the coast path down to Dartmouth rather than the main road. The area is hilly so there is no walking on the flat. I would definitely stay on this site again and our friends who visited us for the day also loved it and are now talking about buying a caravan and joining the CCC. It helped that the weather was great!

Only booked this a couple of nights before we arrived.

This review is for Dartmouth

Only booked this a couple of nights before we arrived. We were put in a nice field but a bit away from the shower block. I noticed that there were a couple of speces empty closer to the showers/toilets and asked if we could move. I was told (very nicely) that they were already booked. However, that same night one of the wardens came and said the people had cancelled and we were more than welcome to move. It's all a pleasant area but prefer the closeness of the amenities. The shower blocks were stunning and very user friendly in that in the usual sites we stay on, the showers are timed and have to keep being pressed. You can choose the heat and time for yourself. Brilliant. All in all, I would recommend this site to anyone. Bus is right outside the site. Just can't praise it enough - will definitely return :-)

The site has lovely views and only a three/five minute drive to Dartmouth.

The site has lovely views and only a three/five minute drive to Dartmouth. Well kept site, although the road in the site could do with a little maintenance but not that bad. The toilet/shower block is one of the best we have used and very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we had a lovely holiday (with exceptionally sunny weather) and would visit this site again. The only thing we would say is that the walk to Blackpool Sands is quite a walk and no dogs are allowed, but very pretty cove. We would visit this site again.
