A family site with seaviews and sandy and shingle beaches within walking distance.

Our Slapton Sands Club campsite has all the ingredients for the perfect family beach holiday. Located on the stunning South Devon Heritage Coast, our Slapton Sands campsite commands a quiet, rural setting. Lined by trees and flanked by rolling countryside, this is the place to sit back and enjoy the views - some pitches enjoy fabulous views over the bay.

The campsite is level and well set out with some hardstandings and plenty of grass pitches. There is a children’s play area, a parent and child room, washing up facilities and a short dog walk and the small on-site shop provides the basics.

Off-site there are plenty of coastal walks to enjoy including to Beesands and Hallsands. Slapton beach is a few minutes’ walk from the campsite. The shingle beach and clean, calm sea are ideal for families (dogs are welcome too) and water sport enthusiasts can enjoy surfing, windsurfing and canoeing.

The freshwater lagoon Slapton Ley is separated from the sea by Slapton beach and is set within a National Nature Reserve. The area is teeming with bird and wildlife. There are many walks and trails around the reserve.

To the north of Slapton Sands, the Blue Flag Award-winning Blackpool Sands awaits. Backed byevergreens and scented pines, this stretch of golden sands has a real mediterranean feel.

A bus stop a quarter of a mile from the campsite is on routes to Plymouth, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The latter is a wonderful medieval town with a lovely harbour, perfect for crabbing, and a castle.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

This was the second time at this site.

This review is for Slapton Sands

This was the second time at this site. Unfortunately our booking was not what we had booked with the main camping and caravan club phone line. And the site was very full so not a lot of options available. The showers and toilet facilities became very busy so quite a long wait some times. Also had a lot of dogs on site and as a dog owner I abided by the rules and kept our dogs on short leads close to us but unfortunately some dog owners didn't and more than twice we had other dogs pee on our awning and wind shield. Don't think we will return unless we are assured that rules will be enforced. Also the no ball games rule also went by the way being woken up at 6.45am one morning by a teenager playing footy on the road next to us. I'm sure it's just a little thing to some but when choosing our site we look to see if it's going to be peaceful and relaxing this stay for the most of the time was but for the few inconsiderate people who don't read the booklet given to them on arrival made my stay for part not a happy one.

Only downside was not so good for dog walking off lead from site due to wildlife walks.

Only downside was not so good for dog walking off lead from site due to wildlife walks.Only 10min.walk to beach though. The biggest drawback for us was the fact that there are only 3 showers in mens and ladies toilet block. Hence a que even at 7.00am

This review is for Slapton Sands

Slapton Sands is one of our favourite club sites having visited it on several occasions and always had a pleasant stay as we did this time. Unfortunately on this occasion we noticed that the club have decided to erect two glamping tents positioned on two or possibly three prime pitches. Looking at the position of the above units I wonder how long it will be before a whole row appears taking up more prime pitches and creating a bigger blot on the landscape. Would it not have been better to invest the capital expenditure in the toilet/shower block which I feel is not adequate for the size of the site. I also think that the site needs waste bins dotted around to make it more convenient to dispose of your rubbish instead of at the entrance gate, it's not that there is not enough staff on the site to collect it on a regular basis being six in total.

Lots of lovely walks excellent pubs. The Tower in Slapton and the Pigs Nose in East Prawle stand out. The only small problem is the site is a little short of showers.
