    Site within National Park

There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.

Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club Site. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.

This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual shower rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off-site, there are two large enclosed dog walks on site.

Tavistock, 2 ½ miles from the site, has world heritage status. It is a picturesque and ancient Stannary and market town with the beautiful River Tavy running through its centre. Whether you enjoy lovely cafes and shops or grand architecture and historical abbey ruins, it is well worth a visit.

Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hills and wooded valleys. The National Cycle Route number 27 (coast to coast Ilfracombe to Plymouth) passes 200 yards from the site.

A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.

The beautiful village of Sheepstor south-east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Site is very well kept and sheltered from the wind that can wipe up over the moors.

Site is very well kept and sheltered from the wind that can wipe up over the moors. The dog walk is the best on site area we have found so far. There is ample room for the children to play including a children's play and football area. The facilities are very clean, the wardens excellent. The last turn on the exit out of the site is a little narrow if you are towing a large caravan, not a problem but line yourself up properly. In all an excellent four days away during a windy February.

The facilities are very good at this site, the showers and toilets are cleaned and maintained to very high standards. We were most impressed by the dedicated dog walking area, equipped with lighting that automatically illuminated as you (and one's dog) walked up the grassed area. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us at quite short notice. The site is ideally located for that hike over Dartmoor. There are local shops and amenities nearby also. We will definitely add this site to our favourites list.

We spent 4 days over the New Year at this site and it really is lovely.

We spent 4 days over the New Year at this site and it really is lovely. The wardens and assistants were extremely friendly and helpful. The site is beautifully kept and very clean. Access is easy and walks over Dartmoor just down a local lane. All the staff worked very hard to provide a little party on New Years eve and this was much appreciated. The tractor barn and surrounding area were all decorated with easy listening music provided. A really nice touch and much appreciated. Thank you all.
