    Site within National Park

There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.

Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club campsite. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.

This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual showers rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off site, there are two large enclosed dog walks on site.

Tavistock, 2 ½ miles from the site, has world heritage status. It is a picturesque and ancient Stannary and market town with the beautiful River Tavy running through its centre. Whether you enjoy lovely cafes and shops or grand architecture and historical abbey ruins, it is well worth a visit.

Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hills and wooded valleys. The National cycle route number 27 (coast to coast lfracombe to Plymouth) passes 200 yards from the site.

A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.

The beautiful village of Sheepstor south east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

The site is situated perfectly for Dartmoor and Devon and Cornwall.

This review is for Tavistock

The site is situated perfectly for Dartmoor and Devon and Cornwall. Tavistock town has all you would need; especially of you visit the Pannier Market. There is a very large Morrissons on the edge of town, and also a medium size Tesco. The approach road classified as a B road is a bit narrow in places, but Devon drivers are considerate and used to tight squeezes, so they are courteous and sensible. The site is fantastic. Well drained and so no problem in the occasional heavy rain found on Dartmoor. The fenced dog walk is amazing - about 0.7km long ! The showers and toilets are impeccable, and the launderette is excellent. The wardens are helpful to a fault. I have a long combined unit, and they helped me exit ''the wrong way'' so that I could do so more easily. I could have exited the ''right way'', but it would have been a bit tight. All in all this site deserves a 10 star rating. This was my second visit, and it certainly won't be my last. Malc

Extremely friendly staff on arrival and throughout stay.

Extremely friendly staff on arrival and throughout stay. Very clean site with toilet and showers kept immaculately. Extremely peaceful site for those who do not need a clubhouse etc. Ready tents are amazing! A great way to camp without the hassle of pitching your own tent. Tents have real beds, indoor and outdoor lights, lamps in both bedrooms and a kitchen area with microwave, toaster, kettle and 2 hobs. Dining table and chairs and a small sofa. Great veranda area with chairs and an area to bring a barbecue. Perfect peaceful, hassle free break. Thank you!

We went for a short break. Site was quiet. Toilet block fantastic.

We went for a short break. Site was quiet. Toilet block fantastic. Only a sort drive up Pork hill and we were on Dartmoor. The weather was variable but even so we were able to get out and walk each day. Eat well and sleep well. Worth noting is that the road up to the site from Tavistock is narrow in places. We needed to fold our kerb side mirror in. Tavistock is lovely town. Lydford gorge well worth a visit. Still as lovely as I remembered it from 20 years ago.
