    Site within National Park

There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.

Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club campsite. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.

This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual showers rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off site, Tavistock has a large dog walking area on site too.

Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hill and wooded valleys. For example, the 11-mile Granite Way passes north of Tavistock campsite from Lydford to Okehampton and takes in spectacular views of Meldon viaduct, Meldon lake and Okehampton castle.

A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.

The beautiful village of Sheepstor south east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

Our second visit to this site.

This review is for Tavistock

Our second visit to this site. We gave it 5 stars last year and were delighted to see that standard maintained this year; 5*+ if that were possible. Three things stand out for us on this site. - the staff; - the facilities; - the dog walks. We will certainly use this site again. Tavistock is a lovely town and is another reason for coming back and I haven't mentioned Dartmoor yet!

A very friendly welcome, staff really helpfull, Toilet & showers imaculate and the site generally kept very neat & tidy. Access to Tavistock & the Moors couldn't be better. The only minor dissapointment was having booked a super pitch well in advance, they are still given on a 1st come 1st served basis so we got the last one; on the wifi perifery and right next to the Rd. But I don't see what the staff can actually do about that. Would we go back? withought a doubt.

Stayed here for 11 nights.

This review is for Tavistock

Stayed here for 11 nights. Welcome on arrival great, choose the lower field which was away from traffic noise and quiet for the time of year. Occasional dog barking from nearby kennels but, not enough to wake or be a disturbance. Play area good for the kids, washrooms excellent with on-suite shower & toilet & basin. Shop could be better, only good enough for absolute essentials. Owners could do with getting in local produce to sell, such as sausages etc from farmers. 1 hour walk into Tavistock with two children easy with wonderful journey across Dartmoor National Park with wild ponies and sheep through Tavistock gold course, staff good at giving directions to avoid traffic. Other positives - Farmers Market in Tavistock- great, Peter Tavy pub - Brill, quaint villages such as Cawsand nearby. Wembury beach - good if arriving early on a sunny day. Great stay but would have been better with more to walk to nearby.

A fantastic site right on the doorstep of Dartmoor, we have just had a great week staying there. The site and it's facilities were spotless, the site friendly but also nice and quiet which suited us. There are so many things to see and do in the local area we were spoilt for choice each day. Our 2 dogs also loved the brilliant dog walking area, no boring little plot of grass here, but a lovely area with trees and hedges and even a bench to sit and watch your dogs enjoying themselves. We will almost certainly be returning in the future.
