Camping near the lovely moors and beaches of North Devon.

Our Umberleigh Club campsite in the Taw Valley is surrounded by rolling hills and meadows and is close to the moors and beaches of north Devon.

This peaceful family-friendly site enjoys a rural location with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Facilities on site include clean, well maintained toilets and showers, a children’s play area, games room with infant's play area, skittles, table tennis table, table football and pool. There is a TV lounge, fishing pool and dog walk. There are also two tennis courts for hire, with free tennis coaching for children during school holidays.

A quarter of a mile from the campsite is the village of Umberleigh. Here you will find an art gallery, an antique shop and a local pub. Umberleigh is also one of the stations on the picturesque Tarka Line which runs between Barnstaple and Exeter.

For clean, sandy beaches and surfing head to Westward Ho, Saunton, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe and for family days out there’s the factory outlet Atlantic Village and Atlantis Adventure Park, Bideford, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and the Quince Honey Farm.

We loved this site. It was quiet, though fairly full the week we were there. Our arrival was delayed because of traffic problems, but this was sorted out without any fuss. There is a delightful walk to a nearby fishing lake. Would be good to have more information on other local walks. Good, clean facilities. Basic food items available, and newspapers. We certainly plan to return here.

Site is in a lovely quiet location close to Torrington and Bidedord and only a short drive to coastal locations. Plenty of flat, well maintained pitches. Excellent paddock ideal for dogs an children to be let loose in! Additional tennis court, fishing lake, play barn and family room make this a family friendly site. Facilities are modern and very clean - everything you could need and a well stocked reception/shop. This site runs like a well oiled machine and this is without a doubt down to the hard work of Ron & Jo. We took our parents for their first proper camping trip and their pleasant experience at this site has them looking forward to camping again in the future. I'd highly recommend this site.

This is the 5th year we have spent our summer holidays at Umberleigh and think it was the best yet. For all the other repeat visitors, you'll be pleased to know that this site is now back to being the excellent site that it always used to be. This years wardens have worked extremely hard to get the site looking fantastic. We couldn't fault anything this year. The facilities were all open and spotless, the wardens were friendly and very hardworking. This is a great site and we highly recommend it.

With lovely views of rolling North Devon Hills to the West and South, campers will see beautiful sunsets from well drained gravel and grass plots. Our second visit to this site friendly Ron, Jo and Keith kept the toilets spotless and the grounds neat. Ideally situated away from salt-laden onshore winds yet a short drive away on good roads for shopping at Barnstaple or Bridport,or out of town Sainsbury's. Sandy beaches at Croyde Bay (surfing school and lifeguards!) and Woolacombe Bay among others, as well as the cliff railway linking Lynton and Lynmouth are in reach too. For children and teenagers check out the onsite play and TV room with snooker, pin-football, table tennis and a skittles alley all under-cover for those on-site rainy or laundry days. When dry, ask about the tennis courts and professional coach at some holiday times, or play football on the play area. For angling or seclusion take a short walk to the Fishing Lake through a shady wood. Stocked with Carp and Tench according to the manager, we also saw a dragonfly laying eggs in the stream and many blue damselflies. A romantic paradise spot of peace and solitude.
