Camping near the lovely moors and beaches of North Devon.

Our Umberleigh Club campsite in the Taw Valley is surrounded by rolling hills and meadows and is close to the moors and beaches of north Devon.

This peaceful family-friendly site enjoys a rural location with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Facilities on site include clean, well maintained toilets and showers, a children’s play area, games room with infant's play area, skittles, table tennis table, table football and pool. There is a TV lounge, fishing pool and dog walk. There are also two tennis courts for hire, with free tennis coaching for children during school holidays.

A quarter of a mile from the campsite is the village of Umberleigh. Here you will find an art gallery, an antique shop and a local pub. Umberleigh is also one of the stations on the picturesque Tarka Line which runs between Barnstaple and Exeter.

For clean, sandy beaches and surfing head to Westward Ho, Saunton, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe and for family days out there’s the factory outlet Atlantic Village and Atlantis Adventure Park, Bideford, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and the Quince Honey Farm.

Had a great week at Umberleigh.

This review is for Umberleigh

Had a great week at Umberleigh. All plots were reasonably flat and face the setting sun, which sets over lovely countryside views. Local roads are very hilly and only serious cyclists will cope with them, however the Tarka Trail is a beautiful ride with a great pub in the village of Meeth (check the food serving times though!). Was surprised that we had to pay for the tennis courts and if you want to play 'proper' tennis then it'll cost you 6 a time however court is very good! The site is spotless and facilities clean and the water was constantly hot. Beaches are a short drive and Putsborough Sands just beyond Croyde beach was our special find, worth the 8 car park charge!! Would go to Umberleigh again as we haven't been to half the attractions that we could have seen!

Lovely site with very helpful friendly wardens as is normal with ccc.

Lovely site with very helpful friendly wardens as is normal with ccc. Kids loved the games room and a tennis coach comes on Tuesdays in summer holidays and offers free 1 hour tennis lesson for kids over 7. We'll be back as only stayed 4 nights and would like to see more of the area. Lovely bread from local bakery can be ordered from site reception. Toilets and showers were always clean. A nice warm shower was the push button type but seemed to last a little longer between presses than some I've been too. I'd not used a ccc site for about 3 years but remember the fun banter you get with just about every ccc warden I've ever met. No different here. Cheers Marcus.
