I booked a hard standing pitch with electric in November 2015 for the Witsun Week 2016.

I booked a hard standing pitch with electric in November 2015 for the Witsun Week 2016. The week before I contacted the site to check all was okay as their reviews were not good I was told booking was confirmed, entrance was good and somebody would be pitching us as they were very busy friday/saturday. On our arrival it was clear it wasnt going to be good. We went to book in and then waited for 40 mins for our pitcher who never came back. We then got a nice man but when he showed us the pitch we wasnt happy - it wasnt hard standing as you would expect from other sites we have visited. It was park on the road and pitch on the grass which was very uneven and not possible. We then complained but due to the busy time no other pitch was available and hard standing or grass was the same price was the answer. We then see a grass pitch behind the motor home waste drain. The man offered us an extension to our electricial hook up as it didnt quite reach. We were given the wrong information by staff opens 9-9 every day but no it does not, it closes at 5 on a sunday and its actually 8-8. Also on other information some of the staff were rude. We had a lovely holiday but I do think you need to know when booking hard standing it is not really what tourers would expect ie: concrete, gravel, grass? We also see the premier pitches and they were awful I am just glad I did not book that. I even see somebody pitch the caravan completely on the road with the awning being held down by rocks. The toilet block was clean and the bins collected regularly. We will be booking a different site for our next New Forest trip and we have never left a site and said we would not go back but on this occasion we did. It was disappointing as we as a couple have visited the New Forest many times and wanted to experience it with our children but needed electric so booked Holmsley. It was also sad that the horses/cows didnt come through like other sites.

Location great with some lovely walks near by.

Location great with some lovely walks near by. Welcome was really good but two of the staff we spoke to came across as rude. Toilets and showers were not very clean and the site was not busy for the duration of our stay so this should have been better. Shop facility good. The campsite itself was ok though some of the pitches were on uneven and stoney ground so for camping probably not one of the best sites we have been to. Good that the campsite gates are closed at 10pm as it makes it feel much safer. We will return in future as love the location.

We arrived, having booked an extra large premium pitch, with electric hook up.

We arrived, having booked an extra large premium pitch, with electric hook up. We booked in and to our amazement were told to go off and find our own pitch!! We trawled round the whole site for 20 minutes or more and could not find anything we would class as an "extra large premium pitch". They were either on very narrow strips of grass or very uneven ground. Eventually, after much disagreement between us, I returned to the Reception and said we could not find anything suitable. | Was then directed to the Rally field, as there were no Rally groups booked in. This field was fine, although a little far from the facilities. Had we not been directed to the rally field, we would have been extremely cross, having pre-booked an extra large premium pitch. Other comments we heard were how disorganised the site was in that it's just a "free for all" dependent on when you arrive and what is available. Having had my moan, the Rally field was very good, flat and very spacious as there were only around 6 - 8 units on this field. The shop was well stocked and open from 8 am - 6 pm which was very good. Showers, toilets and washing up facilities were good, and kept as clean as possible with such heavy use, having 600 pitches in all of the site. The situation of the site is excellent, with open heathland and forest all around and approximately three miles to the nearest village. Would not stay again, unless I could guarantee getting what I had booked. This visit turned out well but only because of being given the use of the Rally field.

We stayed here for two nights, it was our very 1st caravan holiday we were new to the whole experience with our two young children and was helped throughout by very friendly staff.(even to park and set up) toilet/shower blocks were very clean and its a well looked after park. The area is lovely and close to horses and cows and lovely walks with our dog. Thank you for having us we will definitely be back x
