Overview

Discover Dorset's beautiful beaches & surrounding area from our Moreton campsite.

Dorset’s beautiful beaches, heath and downlands are all accessible from our Moreton Club campsite located in the heart of Wessex and surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our 120-pitch site is open and spacious with a good range of facilities, including two amenity blocks, a small children’s play area and a dog walk.

Moreton station next to the campsite is on routes to Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth and the bus stop, half a mile from site, will take you to the pretty county town of Dorchester where you can enjoy a number of walking trails including the Thomas Hardy trail and the Roman Town Walk. The town’s Borough Gardens has tennis courts, a bowling green and a children’s play area and hosts a number of events through the summer including live bands and a teddy bear’s picnic.

Head to the sleepy village of Moreton and stop off at the Tearooms, situated in the old school at Moreton for a cream tea. Thomas Edward Lawrence, popularly known as “Lawrence of Arabia” is buried in the church here. A more elaborate memorial can be found at St. Martins church, Wareham.

The village forms part of the “Lawrence of Arabia Walking Trail. The walks take in Bovington, Clouds Hill, Moreton Church and Lawrence’s grave.

Attractions in the area include the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World Ape rescue Centre in Wareham and Lulworth and Corfe Castles. For the best beaches, head to the circularLulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay – great for rock pooling and swimming – and the blue flag beach at Swanage.

A lovely site very well kept. daily newspapers and small shop.

A lovely site very well kept. daily newspapers and small shop. The site is kept very clean and tidy. The wash rooms were very clean and warm. The showers were always lovely and hot, plenty of hot water. The washing up area was kept clean with plenty of hot water. The site had a fish and chip van visit twice Tuesday and Thursday which was very good . The dog walking area is a small woody enclosure that both our dogs enjoyed. The wardens are all very friendly and helpful always had a hello and a smile. One warden was a bit old school who said he didn't do weather or reversing but still very friendly . A great base for exploring Dorset. There is a train station just out side the site. the railway track does run along side but we did not find it was noisy, after a while you stop taking to much notice of it. We had no problems with the TV signal, But the Wi-Fi was very poor probably due to the number of people using it. First thing in the morning was the best time to get a signal. The pub next door is also a bonus . We recommend this lovely site and thank the wardens for making our stay welcoming and enjoyable.

The site is very well tended, and has a feeling of space.

This review is for Moreton

The site is very well tended, and has a feeling of space. Although quite busy, there is an atmosphere of tranquility, only interrupted by the occasional passing trains. The toilet facilities were cleaned immaculately, but would benefit from modernization, for example providing individual washing cubicles. A shame some fellow campers don't leave them as clean as they find them, as requested.

Well located site, convenient for visting many attractions in Dorset.

Well located site, convenient for visting many attractions in Dorset. Excellent restaurant just outside the site gates. Railway station is very close and useful for travelling to Weymouth etc. We had seen comments about the train horns but this was not a problem to us and does not occur at night. Shame about the poor TV reception but perhaps we need a better aerial.

“Moreton is a real favourite of ours and we have been going there for years. Moreton is brilliantly run and extremely clean. It has a real community feeling and the grounds are always splendid. Over the years we have recommended many and it too has become their favourite.”
