Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland.

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.

The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a  variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval  Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby  Dumfries.

We spent two nights here in our rented motorhome, with our dog in early November enroute to our wedding at Gretna Green.. We stayed at a few sites before and after this one but none compared...We are complete novices at motorhoming (our first time)!!but we found the place no problem and it was easy to get to with motorhome..We were met by a very nice chap on a push bike who showed us to our pitch. The entire site is clean and tidy. Facilities are excellent - dish washing area, cassette toilet emptying, water top up, waste water disposal are all easily accessed.. The shower/toilet block is vast and is outstanding and spotlessly clean and warm. Couple of minutes walk took us into Moffat, lovely town, quaint little shops and a warm welcome at the dog friendly Star Inn (Good food and very friendly locals). There are some nice dog walks and a supermarket and woolen mill just minutes from site. I really can't recommend highly enough and wish we had spent more time here both before and after our wedding..

Very friendly and welcoming staff. facilities very good.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. facilities very good. This is one of our favourite sites as we have a motorhome and once we're set up and comfy we don't want to move the van to go anywhere also my husband can't walk far so it's ideal for us because it is close to town and there's a bus stop on the main street that you can get to Dumfries or Glasgow. Moffat mill do an excellent cooked breakfast for a very reasonable price and the pubs will give a discount to CC&C members. What's not to like?

It felt like we were in the countryside but it was about three mins walk from the centre of Moffat. Discounts had been negotiated with hotels in the town on production of a current membership card. I have never been disappointed with a CCC site but the facilities here were spotlessly clean. I would certainly recommend.

Visited the site a lot as we have used the summer storage facility - negating the need for towing which suited our requirements. The facility block is always kept spotlessly clean with an abundance of toilets, showers and washroom cubicles. The staff are extremely helpful and always willing to go that extra mile to ensure all stays are enjoyable. Would recommend this site for either for a holiday to experience the surrounding area or stop overs for those travelling further North or South. The site is a short walk from the town centre with good places to eat.
