    Top site for beaches

On Scotland's sunshine coast, to the east of the country's capital, Edinburgh.

Our peaceful Dunbar Club campsite is just a stone’s throw from the popular East Lothian seaside town of the same name and adjacent to Whitesands Bay - a long stretch of sandy surfing beach.

Spectacular landscapes surround the campsite, ensuring wherever you are pitched you have a stunning view. Seaward the impressive views extend over the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock – temporary nesting spot for 150,000 seabirds during peak season.

The campsite is well laid out and spacious with 90 pitches, some of which are hardstands. Modern facilities, including a wetsuit shower are available.

Dunbar, three miles from the campsite, offers shops, places to eat and more beaches. East beach, minutes from the town centre is great for bathing, paddle boarding and sea kayaking.

Inland other attractions include East Links Family Park with animals and a narrow gauge railway; the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, where you can view gannets, puffins and seals from interactive live cameras.

Worth Noting

Most pitches have sea views and there is a large picnic area overlooking the coast. There is a large Sunday market/car boot sale every week at East Fortune ten miles from the site.

WiFi

The WiFi service is excellent throughout the campsite. Prices.

Eat Local

Belhaven Fruit Farm is four miles from site, and Dunbar High Street consists of almost entirely independent shops including numerous cafés, an organic greengrocer, community bakery, and a wet fish shop.

Found the site too large for my liking about 50 units in Oct time and can hold double that in the high season. It was very quiet and friendly, the facilities were first class clean, tidy and very well planned out with plenty of hooks and many other nice touches like a chair in the shower cubicle heated and hot showers. The dishwashing and toilet waste dumps were very good facilities too. The pitches are very level all with nice views all accessed via a one way system around the site, that the warden makes sure you adhere to. The hard standing pitches are a nice size for caravan and awning, pegging down can be a bit tough make sure you have good rock pegs that you can get out afterwards so don't drive them all the way down. The dog walking areas are first class and kept clean with plenty of dog bins provided. The site is very well located with easy clear access, local shops and supermarket a few miles away. The wardens ran a tight ship every thing was just so spick n spam. A couple of points that would be of use on site as several others also mentioned is the clothes drying area is in a shade location obviously there as it is out of sight but not much use. The bins recycling etc are all located in the front of the site for bin lorry access, but not much use in the evening. It is very dark a lonely poorly lit walk and when you get there no light at all, so unable to identify which bin is for what. Most folk don't want to have rubbish in their units at night. I did not see the weather forecasts or any wind warnings displayed at the office. Would have been a nice touch to have been warned of any forth coming winds and gusts especially being an exposed site like this by the Wardens. Maybe the one way system was of more importance !!!!!. I would recommend this site to others its very well laid out.

I stayed here for one night in my vintage campervan. I enjoyed my stay. Wonderful views over the sea and bass rock. Fairly peaceful camping. Site kept and managed to a high standard. Reasonable price for grass pitch only for me and my van.

Friendly, helpful staff.

This review is for Dunbar

Friendly, helpful staff. Took up their advice and used Wallyford park and ride to catch train to Edinburgh. Unfortunately beach access is one mile from site. Not a 5 min walk as stated by previous reviewer and not really adjacent to the beach as stated in online details. In the 'Worth Noting ' section in handbook it does state that sandy beach 1 mile away but not that this is nearest access to coast. I feel that this should be clarified.

We stayed for 8 nights, the site is next to the cement works and you can see the nuclear power station, if you wish to visit this book 3-4 weeks before you want to visit for security checked to be done. The walks from the site along the road to the John Muir way is lovely, you can use this path along the golf course into Dunbar or you can walk the road way, which is shorter. We did think there are too many dogs on site, and the warden did pick up some dog muck off our pitch for us! Irresponsible owners!! I think the club needs to charge for dogs as this site has 9 dog bins that all need empting, the council charge to take the rubbish away, so how much does this cost the club? We found plenty to see and do in the area within a short drive. We would recommend this site and would visit again, it is just off the A1 but we didn't hear any road noise.
