Adjacent to the beach, Normans Bay site is a haven for walkers and nature lovers.

On the East Sussex coast, our Normans Bay Club campsite is perfect for family camping holidays. Opposite is a sand and shingle beach - ideal for sandcastles, kite flying and bathing. The popular seaside resorts of Eastbourne and Brighton are to the west and Bexhill-on-Sea to the east.

The open and level site has 200 pitches and three amenity blocks. Facilities include washing machines, a parent and child room, children’s play area and recreation hall. There is also a well-stocked site shop.

The nearby Pevensey Levels, known for nature conservation and agriculture, will satisfy nature lovers. For walkers, the South Downs Way (pick it up at the Seven Sisters Country Park) is a great way to see the stunning East Sussex countryside.

The area is steeped in history - the Normans landed here in 1066. Join the 1006 Way which takes you around Battle, Hastings and Pevensey Castle, one of Britain’s oldest strongholds, to discover some of this history.

Eastbourne, five miles south west of the campsite, offers a plethora of things to see and do. There are parks and gardens, the Sovereign Marina with a host of shops, craft outlets and eating places and several beaches offering safe bathing and a variety of water-based activities.

Other attractions in the area include the magnificent moated Herstmonceux Castle, Drusillas Park and Charleston Manor.

Worth Noting

The site is next to a dog-friendly beach, where fishing is available.

Ball games and kite flying are not permitted on site, however the adjacent beach is a perfect spot for these activities.

We've just come back from a 5 day break at this site.

This review is for Normans Bay

We've just come back from a 5 day break at this site. It's our fourth stay at the site in the past 8 years with our last stay in July 2014 until now. The site has had further investment and improvement with the older central toilet block having a complete refirb and great new heating. The showers were super hot and the facilities always spotless. It's good to see one of our local bolt holes improving on what is already a lovely site. The site management team were all really friendly and we received a warm welcome upon arrival.

The site cannot be faulted for how spotlessly clean the facilities were, all of the time.

The site cannot be faulted for how spotlessly clean the facilities were, all of the time. The staff were always friendly and helpful. One negative if you have children - It states on the summary that no ball games are allowed and the adjacent beach is perfect for such games...this is not true. The beach is stoney and slopes so you are not able to play a game of football with your children there, not even a kick about really. Considering the size of the site there should really be an allocated area for kids to play....the play area was too small really for our 9 year old and he didn't use it at all. I suppose our negative would however be a positive for people without children lol!

Great welcome from staff, very helpful. Helped us find a suitable pitch that wasn't too soggy! Shop catered for all the basics you need. Perfect for walking the dogs and loads to visit and do locally. The site was extremely clean and neat and the shower block was faultless. Will definitely be going back soon.

The site was a tad expensive 6 nights 175, however the facilities were second to none, showers toilets immaculate, cleaned daily. chemical / toilet disposal points under cover with separate hand basin and soap dispenser. Drinking water and grey water empting points tarmacked and grated -best I have seen - no mud for your water carriers. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Did not arrive until 6.30 reception was closed but staff on hand after ringing the call point and still shown to my pitch. Large site with plenty off room. Adequate play area for the kids to congregate outside, the recreation room is out of bounds to kids unless accompanied by an adult - great for spending time with children but a bit of a bind when raining and you want to relax for half an hour - still, no old damaged table tennis table and no rips in the pool table cloth, I can see the point of the rule. Close to local amenities, supper market less than two miles away. Plenty of dog waste bins around the site. We took our three dogs, not a problem here, another big plus for the site! Coded barriers to the site, ensures security of your unit, however you cannot leave until 7am unless you park in the car park the night before, not a problem for most of us enjoying a break. Negatives of the site; the grass pitch was still extremely wet, maybe the site / club should have warned of this and encourage me to book a hard standing, as plenty available - for the price staff should have made visitors aware and maybe upgraded if room was available, however not the end of the world 4x4 pulled the twin axle no problem, I don't think the occupants of the pitch next door were so successful as car rutted the pitch a bit.Certainly worth a visit - you wont be disappointed - but there are also better value sites, not necessarily in Eastbourne though. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
