Overview

A secluded campsite in rural Essex, near both the coast and the city.

Our pretty Kelvedon Hatch Club campsite in the heart of leafy Essex serves those campers seeking the excitement and attractions of the capital as well as those looking for a relaxing break on the Essex coast.

This 90-pitch campsite is secluded and peaceful and has a really rural feel. All forms of camping is catered for here with a range of facilities including a parent and child room, children’s play area and an excellent dog walk.

The pretty village of Kelvedon Hatch – best known for its once-secret nuclear bunker, now a museum, is close by. Also close is Brentwood, with Mountnessing Windmill – a restored, working post mill – and Old MacDonald’s Farm, a leisure park aimed at children. You can also catch a train from the town to London – buses to the station stop half a mile from site with trains leaving every 10 minutes to the city.

For some beach action, head to Southend. Three Shells, the town’s most central beach, offers easy access to Adventure Island, the Pier and numerous shops, cafes and amusements. Also try the Blue Flag, dog-friendly Canvey Island Beach in the Thames Estuary and the Blue Flag Sandy Shoebury East and Shoeburyness Beaches.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

I went to the site with my son and two small grand children.

I went to the site with my son and two small grand children. Son (Aged 37 and has recently passed "trailer driving test". He just missed out getting it automatically on his driving licence at 17. How many people are towing illegally and don't realize I wonder? ). He needed to try towing, parking, and setting up in preparation for summer holiday. Stayed the weekend. Facilities were spotless, and everybody so friendly. Children had great fun in a very safe environment. Site very peaceful. Will definitely to go back to Kelvedon Hatch again. Thank you for a lovely, memorable visit.

Very nice campsite, however, rules are kept very strict.

Very nice campsite, however, rules are kept very strict. This in a way that is not very friendly, especially by one of the couples working here. I know rules are rules, but it can also be with a bit more understanding to the guests. Furthermore a well maintained and very clean campsite, amazing.

As an older couple I would recommend this site midweek.

As an older couple I would recommend this site midweek. Its a shame club rules are not enforced the dogs walking on extended leads needs to be addressed. We witnessed a couple of dogs who barked if anyone walked by and one in particular showed its teeth. Its only a matter of time before someone gets badly bitten. Perhaps dogs should be in a area away from members who don't want to be near them. Many attractions nearby good for London visit etc.
