This review is for Bracelands - Forest of Dean

What a beautiful part of the country, it took us about 1 1/2hr to walk to symonds yat rock from the site, the walk down to the river about 30min, but along 35-40min steady walk back but worth the effort, tintern abbey is lovely and about 40 mins from the site, Monmouth is only 15min away, puzzle wood only 10min away and although it might be a little pricey(6 .50/adult),in my opinion, or maybe I'm being picky, it was a pretty amazing place, we bought a forest leaflet(2)from one of the centres which might have been fine if you wanted to do one of the smaller walks(sculpture trail eg) but we wanted to do a 8-10 mile trail and quite frankly found the leaflet unless, and don't rely on just following the colour coded post, we gave up, nearly fooling out with each other, and yes we did have a map and use to walking around Derbyshire quite confidently, as we wanted to discover even more of the beautiful forest, but the site is lovely and they are still improving the facilities while we were there, thank you bracelands

Being new to caravanning and a little apprehensive, we initially chose this site due to location but changed our minds after reading some of the negative reviews. After chatting to neighbours at our storage facility who had just returned from a weekend there and they gave it a favourable report. We decided to take a chance and booked a premium pitch with electric for our twin axle caravan. Upon arrival we were greeted by an enthusiastic team who assisted us as much as we needed. We were allowed to choose our own pitch from a selection of the newly created hardstanding areas close to the entrance and main amenities block, overlooking the rest of the site. Plenty of room to manoeuvre and park, some pitches had quite a short steep slope onto them - ok for 4x4. The two amenity blocks I visited were clean and purposeful. Sufficient recycling bins and water stations. A number of our neighbours had dogs and they were never an intrusion but we did notice a couple of yappy lap dogs in other areas of the site. We got a very good tv picture using a standard aerial and we had a 3G phone signal for our teenagers. We visited Symonds Yat Rock, walking down to the river and an enjoyable cold drink in one of the many hostelries. Later back up at the ancient view point I was lucky enough to view a Peregine Falcon junevile, courtesy of the RSPB volunteers and their telescopes. Amazing views over the surrounding areas were also to be had here. We followed this with a more leisurely stroll around Monmouth town centre and its many retail outlets. Would definitely visit the site again and recommend it. There were improvement works taking place but we weren't subjected to them over the weekend.

I was very disappointed with this site.

This review is for Bracelands - Forest of Dean

I was very disappointed with this site. Camping in the Forest sounded good, I imagined pitching the tent between the trees. However the site is a vast sloped clearing surrounded by a forest. The toilets did not seem to have been cleaned over the weekend. Worse of all is the customers it seems to attract. There were several noisy groups on younger campers there, partying until very late, often playing car stereos loudly. There appeared to have been something of a drunken fight in one of the nearby groups to us. Not what you want really. On the good side, the Forest leisure facilities nearby were good; our older children enjoyed their high ropes in the trees activity and there was a nice little cafe bar and shop where activities can be booked nearby.
