A spacious, quiet campsite by the county town of Hertford that you can enjoy all year round.

Our Hertford Club campsite is on the outskirts of the attractive market town of the same name and surrounded by rolling countryside.

This campsite, although large is spacious with some 250 pitches, offers many quiet and secluded pitches and there are lots of separate areas to choose from. The site is well laid out with well- maintained facilities including washing machine and dryers, inside dish washing area, an outdoor play area and dog walk.

There is a separate tent area with a facility block close at hand. The whole site is plentifully supplied with trees, hedges and shrubs and there is an attractive lake too.

It’s an easy walk into Hertford with its town square and River Lea towpath walk. And Balls Park close by is excellent for dog-walks.

The Cole Green Way, part of the National Cycle Network, is about 1.5 miles from the campsite, starting at Hertford Football Club it follows a former railway to Welwyn Garden City. There are more recreational options at Hartham Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

For days out there’s Paradise Wildlife Park, Knebworth House and Waltham Abbey or you can take a train to London from Hertford East which is a 20-minute walk from the campsite.

Fantastic site, has lots of space, great facilities, and the staff are really really friendly and helpful. It has lots of exploring parkland, and a play area for children. it's always been lovely and quiet, and that's even when it's busy with lots of people. just a great place. Easy access to Hertford and shops, can walk it once you're set up.

Interesting small County town with historical places to visit.

Interesting small County town with historical places to visit. Pleasant walk from site to town centre. Good cycle routes to Welwyn Garden City or to Ware etc in other direction. Good rail service into London from 2 Hertford stations. Good bus routes also available to St Albans, Hatfield House etc. Summer boat trips along the River Lea. We had to make emergency exit from site to go to hospital in the night. Meant warden had to get up to let us out of site. Warden was so pleasant and caring about that and other staff asked after us after that. We felt that they cared and we mattered!

All facilities were kept very clean and showers nice and hot with no push buttons (big plus).

All facilities were kept very clean and showers nice and hot with no push buttons (big plus). However showers need updating, in particular the shower trays are old, marked and are very slippery to use and controls need modernising. Motor home dump point desperately needs updating. Lifting flap is so rusted to its frame that when trying to lift it, the frame and cover are a heavy single unit. Not easy for a senior citizen with knee problems. Comparatively easy to replace existing cover with a vehicle wide channel with a grating on top that requires no lifting. Not an expensive job. Staff are excellent and credit to the club.

Having spent many happy seasons on site the last two being rather disappointing due to the dictates from some of the site management. Over last winter we seriously considered giving up camping but decided to give it another go for 2014- What a difference when arriving on site in March for the Summer Season, being greeted with smiling faces from a complete new management team. Throughout this Summer the team have been very helpful, friendly and have made many site improvements, so hopefully this will continue into 2015 as we will be back next year.
