A spacious, quiet campsite by the county town of Hertford that you can enjoy all year round.

Our Hertford Club campsite is on the outskirts of the attractive market town of the same name and surrounded by rolling countryside.

This campsite, although large is spacious with some 250 pitches, offers many quiet and secluded pitches and there are lots of separate areas to choose from. The site is well laid out with well- maintained facilities including washing machine and dryers, inside dish washing area, an outdoor play area and dog walk.

There is a separate tent area with a facility block close at hand. The whole site is plentifully supplied with trees, hedges and shrubs and there is an attractive lake too.

It’s an easy walk into Hertford with its town square and River Lea towpath walk. And Balls Park close by is excellent for dog-walks.

The Cole Green Way, part of the National Cycle Network, is about 1.5 miles from the campsite, starting at Hertford Football Club it follows a former railway to Welwyn Garden City. There are more recreational options at Hartham Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

For days out there’s Paradise Wildlife Park, Knebworth House and Waltham Abbey or you can take a train to London from Hertford East which is a 20-minute walk from the campsite.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

On site, you seem to be located deep in the countryside but you are also only 15 mins walk (8 mins by bike) from Hertford town centre. The site is ideal for cycling on the Colne Green way to Welwyn G. City in one direction and south to Ware, The Lea Valley and even down to London in the other direction). There are also quiet country roads immediately outside the site which offer miles and miles of rural cycling through verdant, wooded countryside. Difficult to imagine you're within 30 miles of Trafalgar Square. Plenty of good walks nearby. Really nice playground for toddler age children upwards on site. And the site itself is spacious and park like. The staff couldn't be more affable and welcoming. Highly recommended for a short or a longer stay.

We stayed at the site to be near to our son because we were helping him out with DIY. At the end of each long hardworking day we were delighted to use the showers on site - the shower temperature could be manually adjusted and manually switched on and off (unlike at many campsites). We have visited quite a few sites and have found the showers too hot on many occassions, so Hertford site gets a thumbs up from us. We didn't see much of the local area, but Hertford and Ware looked very nice. We most definitely want to stay at Hertford again, to explore the lovely countryside and canal/rivers, and cycle the local cycle routes.

Altough I am a virgin in caravanning because this was my first camping time with a van, I've got all help from the staff: hook up-lead, letter taking, good advices, etc. It's a very friendly and secluded site close to a nice old town. I hope I can write much good about night storage as well what I am trying.

We were looking forward to this Easter break but we found the standard of the site to be much lower than we expected from a club site. There are two toilet blocks on site but the one nearest to our pitch was closed for the first few days of our stay and when it eventually opened, it had a permanent unpleasant drain smell, was freezing cold and only had lukewarm or cold water in the showers. The roads around the site were in very poor condition with deep potholes and mud everywhere. The vegetation and planters around the site were dead or overgrown and the site just had a general tired appearance. The stay was expensive for us (Around 170 for 6 nights) and we do not feel we got value for money as a result of these shortcomings. All of the staff on the site were very friendly and helpful so no complaints there but the club really needs to invest some time and money in this site to bring it up to club standards. Other points - can walk into Hertford and the train station (about a mile) which is nice and there was always hot water for dishwashing. Unfortunately we're unlikely to return to this site as there are others in the network which are much better value for money.
