A spacious, quiet campsite by the county town of Hertford that you can enjoy all year round.

Our Hertford Club campsite is on the outskirts of the attractive market town of the same name and surrounded by rolling countryside.

This campsite, although large is spacious with some 250 pitches, offers many quiet and secluded pitches and there are lots of separate areas to choose from. The site is well laid out with well- maintained facilities including washing machine and dryers, inside dish washing area, an outdoor play area and dog walk.

There is a separate tent area with a facility block close at hand. The whole site is plentifully supplied with trees, hedges and shrubs and there is an attractive lake too.

It’s an easy walk into Hertford with its town square and River Lea towpath walk. And Balls Park close by is excellent for dog-walks.

The Cole Green Way, part of the National Cycle Network, is about 1.5 miles from the campsite, starting at Hertford Football Club it follows a former railway to Welwyn Garden City. There are more recreational options at Hartham Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

For days out there’s Paradise Wildlife Park, Knebworth House and Waltham Abbey or you can take a train to London from Hertford East which is a 20-minute walk from the campsite.

Not far from the attractive centre of Hertford, but feels rural, with many fine trees.

Not far from the attractive centre of Hertford, but feels rural, with many fine trees. Plenty of staff (living on site it seems) and those I met were efficient and helpful. The amenity blocks were the best I've ever seen, I know a lot of money was spent on this site, and it shows. I usually avoid large campsites but this one was a pleasure to use.

The site was kept clean and tidy, as you would expect from the C&CC, but, there is no hand soap in the ladies toilets. How are you supposed to wash your hands? The Site Manager, was pleasant and helpful on the couple of occasions I spokej to her, however, interest and assistance from the Site Assistants was not so forthcoming! Discovering a problem with their touring caravan on arrival at the site, my parents were told by staff that they could not help as "they didn't know anything about caravans". We found this hard to believe as they are working on a caravan site and living in one! On another occasion, we asked if it was possible to borrow a small screwdriver to change the bulb in our bulkhead light and was told they didn't think they had one! On many occasions we went past Reception, to see 4 or 5 staff sitting about together. Noise late at night was an issue on a couple of occasions, with no assistance from staff when we requested they speak to our neighbour who went out and left his music blaring, with the camper windows open at 10.30pm. On a more general note, I do think the shops on C&CC sites could be better stocked with more equipment and essentials. I also think shops should not be allowed to overcharge for things, like milk (£1.30 for two pints) and ice creams (£1.70 for a Magnum).
