The surrounding area

The secluded, woodland setting of our Theobalds Park Club campsite belies its location just inside London’s orbital M25 motorway. Although just off the M25 the campsite is in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. The nearby Lee Valley Park will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and fishermen. While further west woodland, grassland, heath, rivers and ponds make up the vast expanse of Epping Forest, the largest public open space in the London area.

At just 15 miles from the capital this campsite is an excellent base from which to explore London. Catch a train from Waltham Cross to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping, varied eateries and bars and landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Olympic Park and more.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting relatives in London.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting relatives in London. Usually use Kelevedon Hatch but fancied a change. Site pleasant enough but we found the "hum" from the M25 irritating if sitting outside. Ok at night with caravan door closed. Toilet block fine but offset to one side of site so a long walk from our pitch. Main concern was unease about security with large numbers of semi permanent twin axle vans with works branded vans etc , didn't feel like a holiday site.

I used to come here when I was a child , back in the early 70s and 80s . Then there were some not so welcoming toilets , club house and that's about it . This is only half the story the countryside around , the people we met during my visits played a major part in my life . Theobalds momnment , Canal all gave us kids great fun . London is easily accessible from here , so are many attractions . Childhood memories may sway my opinion , but I would recomend this site whole heartedly.

Easy access and easy to find, very warm welcome and friendly vibe created by the Site manager and staff. This really helps set the tone and mood of the full site and everyone seemed happy. They really put the emphasis on making sure everyone was happy and i saw a relaxed common sense view on two occasions which others would have dealt with differently and caused unnecessary problems. Top marks to all concerned. Travel into London is fairly straight forward with 3 or 4 different options given to you on a leaflet on arrival. We chose to drive and park at Cockfosters tube station which is easy and a 15 minute drive away. There were also options to use a bus (20 min walk away) or overground train (30 minute walk) or call a taxi to take you to one of the above options. After a day in London it's nice to get back to the site and relax. Traffic noise isn't a problem, yes you can hear it but it really isn't intrusive and you stop hearing it unless you try to. We slept with all windows and rooflights open and couldn't hear a thing during the night. The facilities were very good, maybe looking a little tired in places if i was being very picky. Showers nice and warm and plenty of room to get showered and dried no problem. great site run by friendly people, would recommend 100%.

Site remains the best in the area in our opinion and easy to get to - despite comments that the approach is not easy. Please note that someone "borrowed on permanent loan" my aqua role filling tube which I left by the Aquaroll - somewhat disappointing as in my many years of caravanning this has never happened before. Outside of that, an excellent site and would happily return.
