The surrounding area

The secluded, woodland setting of our Theobalds Park Club campsite belies its location just inside London’s orbital M25 motorway. Although just off the M25 the campsite is in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. The nearby Lee Valley Park will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and fishermen. While further west woodland, grassland, heath, rivers and ponds make up the vast expanse of Epping Forest, the largest public open space in the London area.

At just 15 miles from the capital this campsite is an excellent base from which to explore London. Catch a train from Waltham Cross to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping, varied eateries and bars and landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Olympic Park and more.

The Manager (Keith) is extremely helpful.

The Manager (Keith) is extremely helpful. I overheard him explaining about the site and local train stations and where they go to, to a customer on the telephone and his advice, patience and understanding is a credit to The Camping and Caravanning Club. The Showers, toilets, washing up facility and elsan point are all spotlessly clean.

Theobalds is a lovely site but there appeared to be a lot of people living on the site.

Theobalds is a lovely site but there appeared to be a lot of people living on the site. We got the impression it was a good base for people commuting into London for work, consently you had people playing loud music, swearing , drinking heavily. Unfortunately a group of work men had been situated right next to the the play area and lacked consideration for the families staying on the site and the number of young children playing. It was not a good environment for the children. We have been members for some time now and have always chosen club sites because we are Foster parents and our child has additional needs. We have always thought they would be safe on a club site. This weekend proved us wrong and left us feeling unsafe and vulnerable. It's not a site we shall recommend to young families or visit again, which is sad as it is a lovely facility and the wardens were brilliant

It's a 30/40 min walk to Turkey Street train station.

This review is for Theobalds Park

It's a 30/40 min walk to Turkey Street train station. Only 30 mins on the train to Liverpool Street Station. If you are a Spurs fan their training ground is 5 mins walk from the campsite so you may get a glimpse of Kane or Ali. Shower blocks are ok and there is hard standings available. The M25 is nearby but not too noisey. A good base for visiting London.
