Overview

This campsite is just to the north of England's capital in the home county of Hertfordshire, with the bright lights of London in easy reach.

The secluded, woodland setting of our Theobalds Park Club campsite belies its location just inside London’s orbital M25 motorway. Although just off the M25 the campsite is in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. The nearby Lee Valley Park will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and fishermen. While further west woodland, grassland, heath, rivers and ponds make up the vast expanse of Epping Forest, the largest public open space in the London area.

This well laid out, level campsite offers open camping areas and a choice of grass and hard stand pitches. Modern facilities, a children’s play area and dog walk service the needs of all types of camper.

At just 15 miles from the capital this campsite is an excellent base from which to explore London. Catch a train from Waltham Cross to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping, varied eateries and bars and landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Olympic Park and more

As usual the site was well maintained, the toilet blocks are excellent and always clean.

This review is for Theobalds Park

As usual the site was well maintained, the toilet blocks are excellent and always clean. This time of year, February, only hard standings are being used, which is sensible as the grassy areas are quite soft. Just a small point, could we have a few paving stones laid to make a footpath to the water point, next to the old tree stump, as at this time of year just walking over the grass means you pick up quite a bit of mud on your shoes, and when pulling the water carriers over the grass they end up really messy. A laid path would also stop the entrances to the water point being worn down.

The site is really easy to find, not far from the motorway - just try and avoid rush hour traffic times as it it chaos! The pitches are laid out nice and clearly. The toilet blocks were spotless whatever time of day we went to them. The laundry was really easy to use and not too badly priced. The only one thing that we thought the park could improve on is some information about the gun shooting in the leaflet given on arrival. To wake up with the sound of constant gun shots in this day and age was not a nice thing. It sounded like clay pigeon shooting from nearby but a little info from the campsite wouldn't go a miss. Other than that this site is lovely and we will definatley return at somepoint in the near future ??
