This campsite is just to the north of England's capital in the home county of Hertfordshire, with the bright lights of London in easy reach.
The secluded, woodland setting of our Theobalds Park Club campsite belies its location just inside London’s orbital M25 motorway. Although just off the M25 the campsite is in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. The nearby Lee Valley Park will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and fishermen. While further west woodland, grassland, heath, rivers and ponds make up the vast expanse of Epping Forest, the largest public open space in the London area.
This well laid out, level campsite offers open camping areas and a choice of grass and hard stand pitches. Modern facilities, a children’s play area and dog walk service the needs of all types of camper.
At just 15 miles from the capital this campsite is an excellent base from which to explore London. Catch a train from Waltham Cross to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping, varied eateries and bars and landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Olympic Park and more

You mustn't follow the instructions of Google Maps, because it takes to a near hotel without access to the camping. The right instructions can be found on the camping internet site.
The site is well-maintained, but it doesn't have any charm or mood, just lawn and pitches (with a small playground), no shrubs or trees on it. But there is a big noise due to that two busy motorways on both sides.
The staff is friendly, but I had a negative experience with them. I have discussed a late leaving from the pitch at the beginning, but before this time they withdrew from the agreement and insisted on the strict regulations. Altough they made the mistake, they wanted me to pay for the towing of my caravan to the night storage due to early clearing of the pitch.
The wetblock is newly refurbished with push-button taps but they work poor. I do not understand how can be used button-taps properly in the dishwasher especially with that strong water pressure? I think that was a really silly idea to install them.
I think this site is rather suitable for a sightseeing or -as many do- working base.

This is my second visit to this site. It's really hard to believe that you are literally a few metres from the M25. Access is easy for even the largest units. We chose a pitch near the woods on the south end, Nearest the motorway so perhaps a tad noiser, than those closer to the toilet block, but great as they offered the best shade for our dogs.
Top tip: If you have a canine friend with you, or are using the train to get into the city. There is a gap in the fence at the south east corner of the site, which leads onto the riverbank. At the riverbank turn left and there's a fantastic walk for dogs, turn right walk across the bridge and follow the river to join Bulls Cross ride. Turn left and then turn right at the lights (A10), go through the underpass to catch 217 into Turnpike bus/underground station or continue on to Turkey st to catch the train to either Seven sisters tube or Liverpool St station. This shortcut shaved 20 minutes off the original 40 minute walk to the station along the road route to the site.
