Overview

This campsite is just to the north of England's capital in the home county of Hertfordshire, with the bright lights of London in easy reach.

The secluded, woodland setting of our Theobalds Park Club campsite belies its location just inside London’s orbital M25 motorway. Although just off the M25 the campsite is in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside. The nearby Lee Valley Park will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and fishermen. While further west woodland, grassland, heath, rivers and ponds make up the vast expanse of Epping Forest, the largest public open space in the London area.

This well laid out, level campsite offers open camping areas and a choice of grass and hard stand pitches. Modern facilities, a children’s play area and dog walk service the needs of all types of camper.

At just 15 miles from the capital this campsite is an excellent base from which to explore London. Catch a train from Waltham Cross to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping, varied eateries and bars and landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Olympic Park and more

Used campsite as a base to visit London by tube from Cockfosters and Oakwood .

Used campsite as a base to visit London by tube from Cockfosters and Oakwood . Easy access when found somewhere to park, used car park at Cockfosters and side roads near Oakwood . Visited Kelvedon nuclear bunker, very interesting. Cedars park is a small park with a sculpture trail: great for small children- found it when out for a run on first day. Audley End ( English heritage) is not too far away.

Good site, only problem is the smell of sewerage.

Good site, only problem is the smell of sewerage. I don't know if it has a septic tank or just a problem with the drains but when you pull into the park there is a bad sewerage smell. I think this must be a recurring problem as we visited the site two years ago on the summer and it was bad then too.

Arrived and welcomed by Andy and his colleague on site.

Arrived and welcomed by Andy and his colleague on site. Great guys who made us feel really welcome straight away. Shown to our pitch and all facilities were pointed out. Very clean and plentiful toilets, showers and wash basins. Lovely hot showers each day. We were staying for a 3 nights to travel in to London for some sight seeing and this was a great base. Parked at Cockfosters for the two days we went into London. Nothing bad to say about the site and we will definitely use again for London.

On arrival was greeted by friendly and extremely helpful staff.

On arrival was greeted by friendly and extremely helpful staff. Used site specifically to visit Tower of London to view the WW1 poppy display. A 30min walk to bus stop followed by a 1.1/2hr bus ride to the Tower was easily done. Bus pass made trip free. Pub within walking distance serving real ale. Will use site again when visiting London. There are no negatives that I can think of for this site.
