Overview

Explore the Highlands from this peaceful Scottish campsite.

Our Club campsite at Dingwall sits at the head of the Cromarty Firth and is ideally located for exploring the Scottish Highlands and the wooded Black Isle.

This pretty campsite caters for all unit types; it is well laid out and level, with many pitches bounded by trees and hedges, ensuring you’re perfectly pitched to enjoy a relaxing break. The market town of Dingwall is close by offering a range of shops, a supermarket and restaurants. You can catch a train from here to Kyle of Lochalsh on the West coast; a stunning route taking in some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery.

If you enjoy walking, the Dingwall Heritage Trail passes the campsite and follows the River Peffery to a picnic area on the Cromarty Firth. Head to Evanton and Fyrish Hill for other walking opportunities.

Wildlife lovers can spot dolphins at Cromarty, whilst Red Kites can be seen on the Black Isle. To view osprey, visit Udale Bay, part of the Firth shoreline where birdwatchers can also scan for waders and wildfowl.

To sample the local culture, visit the Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer with the Highland Museum of Childhood or enjoy a tasting and tour at the Black Isle Brewery, Munlochy.

The site is within the town and is easily accessible. There are many villages round about to visit and pubs in each which sell food. The site may be used as a base to explore places further north and of course Inverness and Culloden.

We were put off booking this site after having read the reviews stating it was noisy because of the football stadium and trains. We actually found it extremely good, yes, you can hear the trains but they were only ever 2 units long and didn't bother us at all and there was no football going on while we were there. We were backed onto the stadium car park but realistically how often would it be used? Had there been a match on we would just have gone off for the day. The wardens were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the site was spotless, most of the pitches were flat and the site very well laid out. The added bonus was the very friendly rabbits that seemed to feed from morning til night within feet of people or vehicles. We wished we had been able to stay here longer and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend.

This site very quiet considering it is next to a railway line and Ross county football stadium Our family went to bed early and had no problems at all sleeping with windows wide open Easy access to town centre is a short walk away and good quiet paths around the site for cycling also a short drive away to cromarty for dolphin spotting Weekly highland fling at nearby hotel is worth a visit if you've never been to one.
