    Top site for beaches

Beautifully located between the beaches of the Moray Firth and the hills.

Our Rosemarkie Club campsite on Scotland’s Black Isle sits right on the edge of a half-moon bay, flanked by hills and woodland on one side and the stunning Moray Firth on the other. If it’s dolphins you’ve come to see, you won’t have to look too far. The lighthouse, just a short walk from the site is the ideal place.

Campers will enjoy superb views over the Moray Firth to Fort George from many of the pitches here and a walk along the sand from the site brings you to the Faerie Glen. Rosemarkie village is famous for its Pictish stones housed in the Groam House Museum. There’s a pleasant beach extending all the way to Chanonry Point and a community-run beach café.

Fortrose boasts a ruined cathedral and several restaurants and tearooms. Hidden from most of the town and only reachable by narrow, twisting roads, is a very pretty harbour offering many leisure pursuits and a peaceful and secluded beach.

The more lively Inverness is close by. Sitting on the banks of the River Ness, the town is dominated by a pink crenelated castle. The towns offer many places of interest to visit as well as shops, eating places and a Victorian market.

Nature lovers can take a boat from Avoch Harbour or Cromarty to see dolphins. Or visit Munlochy Bay to spot wading birds, ducks and migratory birds, or feed ducks, geese and swans at Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park.

We love this site - it is clearly one of the best CC's in Britain- we've had issues previously with a particular warden but the present ones are terrific - long may they continue. The site was spotless, the hot water excellent and they really try and get as many units as possible on the site - some of the pitches are short so giving accurate info is really important For anyone looking for the unusual - the beach setting is terrific for all ages and the dolphin watch is unmissable - go for it! and enjoy ! We'll be back.

Coastal site, exposed to easterly winds.

This review is for Rosemarkie

Coastal site, exposed to easterly winds. Big "plus point" is within easy walking distance of Chanonry Point and its bottlenose dolphins. Most features of the site are good except lots of pitches are now poor to get reasonably level. Toilet block facilities are good in quality but few in quantity. Even though a large amount of money has been spent refurbishing these and the new drainage system, there is still no drive over waste water dump. A glaring omission since the percentage of motorhomes is increasing dramatically.

To see the dolphins in the bay and down at Chanonry Point was a privilege.

To see the dolphins in the bay and down at Chanonry Point was a privilege. The local shops have all your basic needs and the local pub and golf club make you very welcome. Just remember at this base you are less than 125 miles from the most northerly point of the mainland (Dunnet Head), with fantastic views of the Orkney Islands. Would recommend a day trip to visit this area, which as we did, you could include Thurso and John O'Groats.
