    Top site for beaches

Beautifully located between the beaches of the Moray Firth and the hills.

Our Rosemarkie Club campsite on Scotland’s Black Isle sits right on the edge of a half-moon bay, flanked by hills and woodland on one side and the stunning Moray Firth on the other. If it’s dolphins you’ve come to see, you won’t have to look too far. The lighthouse, just a short walk from the site is the ideal place.

Campers will enjoy superb views over the Moray Firth to Fort George from many of the pitches here and a walk along the sand from the site brings you to the Faerie Glen. Rosemarkie village is famous for its Pictish stones housed in the Groam House Museum. There’s a pleasant beach extending all the way to Chanonry Point and a community-run beach café.

Fortrose boasts a ruined cathedral and several restaurants and tearooms. Hidden from most of the town and only reachable by narrow, twisting roads, is a very pretty harbour offering many leisure pursuits and a peaceful and secluded beach.

The more lively Inverness is close by. Sitting on the banks of the River Ness, the town is dominated by a pink crenelated castle. The towns offer many places of interest to visit as well as shops, eating places and a Victorian market.

Nature lovers can take a boat from Avoch Harbour or Cromarty to see dolphins. Or visit Munlochy Bay to spot wading birds, ducks and migratory birds, or feed ducks, geese and swans at Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park.

Nearby golf club meals are excellent.

For the price this is really not up to the standard required.

For the price this is really not up to the standard required. The toilets were spotlessly clean but not accessibly at night without a torch and glasses. The access to the site is very narrow and difficult for a normal car and caravan outfit. Due to the rain in Scotland the site ground often turns to mud and requires a gravel road or proper hardstanding. Beautiful scenery and acrobatic dolphins made our holiday memorable. Its well worth a visit .

The Rosemarkie site is based looking right onto the Moray Firth with views over to Fort George and beyond. As a beach holiday you couldn't be better placed with a long sandy beach great for family fun, dog walking or just a to stroll along the beach to the lighthouse taking in the sea air. The campsite feels specious even when it gets busy. It's well maintained and it's very level, great for pitching a tent. The staff are welcoming and very helpful. The facilities are good but could do with a bit of an upgrade. Where we were pitched our toilet block only had one shower which was an inconvenience when busy. The washing up facilities were cramped and right at the ladies toilet door. This meant having to squeeze by if campers were washing up. Wash up on the other side of the outside wall with an overhead canopy would solve the bottle neck. That aside we very much enjoyed our stay at the Rosemarkie site and would revisit and recommend it to anybody visiting the area.
