Our Club Site on the beautiful Isle of Skye

Head to Loch Greshornish on the beautiful Isle of Skye and you’ll find our Skye Club campsite. It boasts an idyllic location right on the loch shore where campers enjoy stunning views over the water to the hills beyond.

The campsite is on a working croft. Magnificent Highland cattle and sheep graze close by and you can buy fresh laid duck and hen eggs at the site shop along with most essentials. There are hardstandings for caravanners and motorhomers with plenty of these pitches enjoying the views. You can go glamping at Skye campsite too. Two camping pods provide cosy accommodation for those who perhaps fancy leaving their own units at home.

A visit to Dunvegan Castle on the Isle’s west coast is a must. It sits on a rocky outcrop betwixt sea and manicured gardens. Seal spotting boat trips operate from the castle jetty. Not far from the castle Caligan Coral beach is a fantastic place to spend the day. Portree is the main town on Skye, set round a harbour you’ll find the Aros Centre. As well as theatre, films and concerts it’s here you’ll find out more about the Isle through a series of exhibitions.

To catch a glimpse of the sea eagles catch a boat from the harbour.

Love, Love Love this site. We both love Scotland and this site did not disappoint. Mervyn was able to kayak from the shoreline and caught his first mackerel. We travelled around the island on out scooter there is plenty to see. The midges at this time of year were not too bad but we used the faithful Avon Skin so soft. Loved the walks on the shore and cliffs. The site was clean and well kept and filled up every day with new people. A lot of one night stays. There are two camping pods, which again were full while we were there. We have a 24ft motorhome towing a short side on trailer with the scooter. There was no problem with access on or off the site or pitches. We will use this site again if we go back to this part of Scotland.

As soon as we arrived, we were a wee bit early, parked the car up at reception and went for a walk around the site as we had drove a long way needed the toilet. We got shouted at and told we weren't signed in and to get off the property until arrival time. So good vibes were not there from the start. The one night we had a drunk couple running into our tent was unacceptable, they were abusive and scared the living daylight out of me, being a young woman and an angry drunk man shouting at you, agreed this isn't the norm I assume, and agreed David and Nicki did come out, but they tain there time and they were as much use as a chocolate fireguard walking around with their dog like they were on a Sunday stroll. There was never any bacon or eggs available and you had to pre order them the morning before if you wanted them. I thought the idea in a site shop is if you have forgotten anything you can get things before heading out to town. The water was lovely but the whole time we were there it was miles out, there was always miles of seaweed and gunk before you were at the edge of the water. So you couldn't walk the dog or throw stones in or anything beside the water which is advertised. Granted there is a trail for a dog walk which is good. There is a pub/restaurant down the road but its by no means a village advertised, there's no shops or anything just two pubs and a school. I would only recommend this for older couples that want to tour the north of Skye and have nice clean facilities at night time when there back. They gave me a refund for my 3 nights I had paid in advance for and this alone tain 50 minutes as they kept going off in private to discuss and phoning other camp sites on how to deal with this. There was a sense of incompetency and it was off putting.

We visited Skye when it was experiencing squally rain showers. The wardens were friendly and helpful and quite willing to help during the bad weather too. The toilet facilities were fantastic, considering the weather conditions they were absolutely spotless. A credit to the site.... The laundry and wash up areas were very clean too. I would definately return to this site again. Overall I would give it 10 out of 10. A great site.
