Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool which is heated from June until the first week of September and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

Wightlink Ferries  offer great discounts to all Club member.

This site needs a different access and all the buildings and facilities are below standard...

This review is for Adgestone

This site needs a different access and all the buildings and facilities are below standard when compared with other C&CC and CC sites. The Eastern approach along Lower Adgestone Road should be signed as NOT SUITABLE FOR CARAVANS AND LARGE VEHICLES. There are no adequate passing points. Even from Sandown direction, narrow roads and a sharp right turn at the Tee Junction make for difficulties for all but experianced drivers. SATNAVS give wrong turning information at this junction.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely visit again! The staff are all friendly, although the manager did give the impression that he was running an army camp at times! That said, he does a great job of keeping the site well maintained and in top order. The Squirrel cafe is fantastic; the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. As for the food, the quality is superb and is fantastic value (it's worth visiting the site just for the cafe)! Overall this is a lovely, quiet site and we had a lovely time. Sadly, there are just a couple of little niggles that could do with revising! The shower & toilet block is a little 'tired' and needs a good re-vamp. There needs to be more cubicles as I imagine there would be constant queues when the site is full. Also, we were very disappointed to find that, despite the lovely warm weather, the site management would not open the pool. It was explained that this was to do with staffing, as a lifeguard is required at all times. We understand if this is indeed the case, but surely arrangements should be made to ensure full cover of the facilities being advertised. The only other thing to be aware of is, DO NOT FOLLOW A SAT NAV! We can't stress this enough! We made that very mistake and ended up in some very tight spots, before eventually having to do an incredibly difficult about turn on a farm courtyard. This was bad enough with our small 2 berth caravan, but anything larger would certainly have had major problems. We recommend following the Sandown road and turning left as you pass through Lake (the site is signposted). This is by far the simplest way to get there, although be aware that there are a few speed bumps to negotiate! Don't be put off by the minor cons, as the pros definitely outweigh them. This is definitely a site worth visiting, and we certainly will do so again!
