Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool which is heated from June until the first week of September and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

We decided to pitch in a sheltered spot by the park while we were setting up we thought that this was a good idea as the boys had the freedom to go off and play and ride round to see the site, at about 4.30/5pm when everyone was returning from there days out the park was busy and got a bit louder but by 9 it had stopped. The old shower block could do with up grading but the water was almost to hot and i never had to wait to long for a shower. i felt every thing was as clean as it could be for the size of the site. The rules for the swimming pool sometimes were a little much but a child splashing around looks much like a child in danger so i can see it from both sides. i would recommend the site to my friends, it was nice to have a takeaway on site as you are a little out of town but next to some very nice country side. it was easy access to all round the island and some very nice localish pubs (i can highly recommend the short drive to the Hare and hounds) My husbands only complaint was the pigeons kept waking him up early in the morning also the local cows one morning sounded as if they were out side the tent, a good holiday had by us all.

Facilities could have been cleaner and the shower cubicles are in need of some work. Not what you expect when you pay 40 night. Some of the wardens seem to forget people are on holiday and paying to stay . The setting and plots are good.

We had a lovely break last week despite some poor weather. Had a choice of jumbo pitches and found a lovely quiet corner. Lots of hedges provide privacy and husband overjoyed to be able to fish 15m from tent! 9yr old LOVED the pool and the freedom of being able to bike all over the site and make friends in the central play area. (Would not recommend pitching near it though - quite noisy as you would expect.) Site shop was well-stocked and had long opening hours. Take-away food was appreciated during the week. Only slight down-side was some noisy neighbours - their barking dog for two nights which they did do their best to control but then music 'til nearly midnight. A bit disappointing. In the past, site staff used to do a walk-round about 20 minutes before quiet, have a chat with people and just ensure they remembered the site policy. It would be really good if this happened to avoid uncomfortable situations arising. Would have spoken to site staff but neighbours moved on the next morning. Would definitely go again though!
