A great campsite to explore Canterbury, with a bus stop outside the site entrance.
City, coast and countryside – you can take your pick if you’re basing yourself at our Canterbury Club campsite. Although a popular stopover for those travelling to or from France, this campsite offers the ideal base for exploring Kent’s coast and country.
The campsite lies a couple of miles south of the city – within walking distance (or hire a bike on site). The not so energetic can catch a bus from outside the campsite. The well laid out campsite offers a mix of level grass and hardstand pitches. There are newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities, a washing up area, children’s play area and good dog walking.
Off site Canterbury is a city packed with history, heritage and culture. It has a stunning cathedral and the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church and castle. It also has an eclectic mix of specialist shops, independent retailers, bars and restaurants.
Head to the coast for Whitstable with its trendy harbour and July Oyster Festival. The more traditional Herne-Bay has two miles of seafront adorned with colourful beach huts and a pier. The quaint Victorian town of Broadstairs with its Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides is a contrast to the more cosmopolitan habour side Ramsgate noted for its pavement cafes and waterside bars.
Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Ideal for people with Motorhomes as it is on a direct bus route to Canterbury and elsewhere. We found the staff quite pleasant and in some cases very helpful with information. The site is generally well kept but one point to note is that there is only one rubbish/recycling area opposite reception and if you are staying on the lower areas it's a bit of a hike to get rid of your rubbish. Just general recycling bins provided.
It was a great pity that the lower Gents shower block was closed for refurbishment when the site was full but I understand that the work had to be done at some point. Perhaps later in the year would have been better if the work could have waited a short time. We enjoyed our stay however.

The position is superb for visiting Canterbury - an easy walk or even easier bus ride into town which would give public transport access far and wide.
Site is large and busy, but not noisy. The hard standings have the hardest surface to peg into that I have ever encountered, so go prepared.
We feel that it lacks the friendly touch, the shop is poor and hardly ever open, the choice of pitches was very limited for us as we arrived on Sunday at 4.30 pm and were given a take it or leave it type of option, which for a long stay was unfortunate. Facilities were generally great as normal but the one and only washer seems inadequate for a site this size. The waste disposal all being at the road end of the site is a real nuisance, especially as we imagine for motor homes.
Overall would recommend it for visiting Canterbury and area but we are forming an opinion that the "friendliness image" on club sites has definitely fallen below other options.
