Overview

Camp at our secluded site in Kent, the Garden of England.

Our Oldbury Hill Club campsite is located in an idyllic spot within Styants Wood, opposite the Iron Age fort of the same name in Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a lovely open, all grass campsite. Pitches are sloping so chocks will be required.

The area is ideal for walkers. Two way-marked circular walks pass over Oldbury Camp, the large Iron Age Hill fort. The hill is now covered with woodland managed by the National Trust. You can also walk from the campsite to Ightham Mote, a medieval moated manor house with a 14-acre garden and restaurant.

It’s a short car journey to Knole, a National Trust run English country house set in a deer park; Penshurst Palace and Gardens; the National Trust run Chartwell, family home of Winston Churchill; the beautiful Emmetts Garden and Hever Castle and Gardens.

You can also visit London by train from Borough Green and Sevenoaks stations.

I came down to the area to have an awning fitted on my 'van, and to check out a folk club I'm booked at later in the year, I also took the opportunity to take our recently rehomed dog on her 1st camping experience along with our old dog. This site is just right, quiet but friendly, easy access to nearby towns and fantastic walks from your door. No negatives about the site, but on the road approaching there did seem to be just one branch you couldn't avoid hitting with the wing mirror!

A quiet site, Oldbury Hill, is an excellent centre for Kent and Sussex outings. It is quiet and some of the facilities are a bit tired now but still well within acceptable levels.

We have been to Oldbury Hill for many years now and it is desperate need of updating due to it has not had been one for a long time also the site needs hard standing as it is very muddy when it rains making parking of the vans very difficult! The present wardens Di and Tracy are the most pleasant people going and are trying their best with such a sad site! Their new parking of the vans is excellent and I wonder why it has not been done before like that. Di was up to her ears in mud trying to park the vans over the four days it was raining, but as we have been to Oldbury Hill for many years and expect we will continue to do so. So we have seen bad and very bad wardens at Oldbury Hill but Di and Tracy are the best by far!

While being a nice quiet site set within a wooded area. Ideal for exploring Kent.

While being a nice quiet site set within a wooded area. Ideal for exploring Kent. lots of NT sites within local area, not to mention being close to Brands Hatch. The site is in need of some improvement. The shower block is tucked away in the trees. The block is cold due to no form heating & the roof is covered in dead leafs so its dark. When we were there the site was quite boggy, several people had issues getting off of there pitches, so I think hard standings might worth considering for the future. The water point is set in the middle of the site, which causes issues trying to pull a full water container up the hill. Perhaps another water point at the top of the site would be a great help.
