Overview

Camp at our secluded site in Kent, the Garden of England.

Our Oldbury Hill Club campsite is located in an idyllic spot within Styants Wood, opposite the Iron Age fort of the same name in Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is a lovely open, all grass campsite. Pitches are sloping so chocks will be required.

The area is ideal for walkers. Two way-marked circular walks pass over Oldbury Camp, the large Iron Age Hill fort. The hill is now covered with woodland managed by the National Trust. You can also walk from the campsite to Ightham Mote, a medieval moated manor house with a 14-acre garden and restaurant.

It’s a short car journey to Knole, a National Trust run English country house set in a deer park; Penshurst Palace and Gardens; the National Trust run Chartwell, family home of Winston Churchill; the beautiful Emmetts Garden and Hever Castle and Gardens.

You can also visit London by train from Borough Green and Sevenoaks stations.

The site is in urgent need of re-furbishnent.

This review is for Oldbury Hill

The site is in urgent need of re-furbishnent. Non-heated shower and toilet blocks are unacceptable. 2 male showers for a site of this size is totally inadequate The CDP is a disgrace and totally unfit for purpose and there is no MH service point. There is insufficient information on the severe degree of slope on site for members to make an assessment for their units. This site does not reflect well on the usual high standards I have come to expect

Very quiet & secluded site, ideal for a quiet country retreat although facilities are just a small shop, brick bbq (1) & toilets/shower blocks. Small play area with swings/slide for younger children, but the staff made it for us - lovely people. Fab National Trust woodland all around to explore, and the pitches are nicely spaced. Staff ran an Easter Egg Hunt & it was great fun :)

Lovely location for peaceful break especially if you enjoy woodland walking and national trust! Be warned though some of the walks involve some very steep hills. The decent on the walk to Ightam moat is very steep which at one part comes rather suddenly to a road, so beware especially if you have children or your four legged friends with you! Due to the exceptionally dry weather the walks are very pleasant currently, however after rain this could be a very different story. There I a bus stop at the end of the road so easy public transport available if you want to leave the motorhome or even car parked up. The crown point pub is within easy walking distance however the food has a lot to be desired but for a pint more than adequate, and friendly welcome.

My second visit to Olbury Hill this time with Granddaughters.

This review is for Oldbury Hill

My second visit to Olbury Hill this time with Granddaughters. As mentiond before this site does slope and on my last visit caravans sited across the slope, now caravans sited down the slope making it easier to manage even if front of caravan quite high.Very quiet, even though I was the weekend before Easter. Toilet block hasn't changed much and surely an upgrade is required soon.Elsan disposal point up a flight of stairs which is not ideal.Whist the site is not wooded this surrounding woods are ideal for a walk. New wardens very helpful and cheerful, even though I was the last booked unit that day. Access is via a narrow lane, and take a wide swing in, if towing a van. Would I use it again, yes, for peace and quite, but surely the Club could improve the toilet facilities somewhat and replace fallen fencing.
