    Top site for beaches

Easy access to the long, sandy beaches of Lincolnshire's seaside coast from this campsite.

The seaside is the big draw for our family-friendly Mablethorpe Club campsite. Its location is just a mile from the lovely sandy beach at Mablethorpe. This golden expanse of sand is perfect for bucket and spade fun, while the seafront offers everything you would expect from a British seaside resort – amusement arcades, fairground, donkey rides and cafes.

Queens Park next to the beach offers a variety of activities and has a boating lake, paddling pool, miniature railway, tennis courts and putting green. Head further down the coast for Skegness and more traditional seaside fun.

For those visiting Mablethorpe campsite, it’s not just about the beach. Inland the Fens and Lincolnshire Wolds are both lovely walking and cycling areas. The towns of Louth, Spilsby, Market Rasen and Alford are all worth visiting, the latter is fames for its craft market held every Tuesday and Friday through the summer.

Spent a week here in probably the windiest period of northerly blasts this year. The site has an open aspect which can leave campers prone to the strong winds that can be had here. Close to shops and amenities. However the site being located close to agricultural land, there was the constant barrage of a bird scarer being set off sometimes as early as 0630 and constantly firing at regular intervals until late into the evening, every day. This spoilt the peace and quiet of a fairly nice rural site. On enquiring of the site staff I was told there was nothing that could be done, and that personally he didn't notice it anymore. Unfortunately I and my wife did notice it very regularly on a daily basis. This point and this alone means that I would not recommend a friend to visit this site. Overall the site spoilt by intrusive noise...

This site has had an upgrade since we last came and it's nice to have the security barrier to stop people wandering in. Firstly we had a hard standing which was ok but even with rock screw pegs and a power drill, it was hard to peg down our porch awning. As I have poor eyesight I did fall a few times due to some very large stones on the hard standing. Water point and rubbish disposal and our electric hook up were fine although my husband said the bins were over flowing on one occasion. I did use the disabled toilet once but the door was so heavy I gave up using it. Also although the shower has a seat in the shower, I, along with I'm sure other disabled users would rather have somewhere to sit to dry ourselves so I did not feel I could use this either. As we had a problem one morning with our own toilet my husband used the site one. I'm afraid it was during the 10.30-12.00 cleaning period and one of the wardens did ask him what he was doing in the toilet then stared at him walking all the way back to our van muttering to herself. Problem is when you have to go you have to go. With emptying the toilet waste my husband said there wasn't much room to put out container under the tap without struggling so he took our drinking water hose with him which made it easier. Despite the windy weather we had quite an enjoyable stay.

We have just spent 5 nights on this excellent well maintained site. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our pitch. We were given a choice of pitches from those available and the warden was there to help us reverse in. The site itself is a mile or so out of town and surrounded by fields giving a country feel. The toilet block is very clean and modern, and was a delight to use. There is separate ball and children's playing areas, so ball games are not allowed around the pitches. We like that! There is also a "dog walk" around the outside of the site. There is a very small shop on the site selling the essentials, but a mini-market is a short walking away and a very large Co-op about a mile away. This was a great site to stay on and we thoroughly recommend it.
